WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME – CALL FOR HOST PRACTICES
Interested in hosting a student this February half term?
Since launching in September, the North East London Training Hub Work Experience Programme has provided young people aged 16+ with structured, meaningful exposure to primary care during school holiday periods. Following a successful October half-term, we are now preparing placements for the February half-term and inviting GP practices across NEL to get involved. So far, 444 students from every NEL borough have registered, completing 682 hoursof hands-on learning across GP practices. These students reflect the diversity of our communities and bring real enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to their placements.
Why become a host practice?
By offering up to 22 hours of structured work experience during the half-term break, your practice will help students to:
- Observe clinical and non-clinical roles
- Understand the realities of working in primary care
- Build confidence, communication skills, and career awareness
- Discover pathways into healthcare and develop valuable transferable skills
Hosting even one student can have a meaningful impact on their career aspirations and help strengthen the future primary care workforce pipeline.
