We are pleased to present a series of online training sessions that will teach you about the connections between climate change and subsequent pressures on primary care. The North East London ICS has developed a Green Plan, in which we committed to providing education and awareness to all primary care staff.
Join our Clinical Leads for Net Zero from Primary Care to learn about how the climate crisis is a health crisis and understand about how primary care transformation can help us reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint.
The first session took place on 15 September 2022 and they were open to all clinical and non-clinical Primary Care colleagues working in North East London. It gives the chance for you to learn about the Greener NHS programme and for us to learn how betting engage you in delivering the Green Plan.

NEWS
Worried about staff morale, practice finances or rising patient demand?
The problems facing General Practice twinned with the Net Zero target can feel overwhelming. All parts of the NHS have a responsibility to understand and reduce their carbon emissions and provide high quality care. The first step on this journey is to become Carbon Literate.
NHS North East London are pleased to announce that we have commissioned SEE Sustainabiilty, using Health Education England funding, to provide 84 places on a free training session with follow up support to start to understand your impact on the NHS carbon footprint.
Benefits
Research shows by businesses carrying out pro-environmental actions, such as providing a green space for staff improves staff morale and retention. Using a Sustainable Quality Improvement approach to improving patient care can reduce the amount of illness in a population, and reduce patient demand. We are also hearing that CQC are very keen to see practices take action on climate change.
Improved awareness of the cause and impact of climate change on our friends, families, staff and patients, improved understanding of environmental impacts of delivering primary care, guidance on how to provide high quality healthcare with fewer greenhouse gas emissions and cobenefits on improved staff morale, practice finances and patient health.
A recent course participant said : ‘A year ago the words “carbon literacy” completely terrified me! Turns out it wasn’t remotely terrifying!’.
