Well just try our FREE training workshop and see for yourself.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur FREE Deaf Awareness training is a great opportunity for you and your staff to break down the barriers that most deaf people face by developing Deaf Awareness and accessibility.\nWHY DO YOU NEED TO BE DEAF AWARE?\nDid you know that in the UK\, 1 in 6 people have some degree of hearing loss? that’s about 10 million people!\nBeing deaf aware is a great way to promote inclusion and improve access for all deaf people and those with a hearing loss.\nOur workshop will introduce the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlight strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges facing Deaf people.\nHOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME?\nEDS aims to ensure all participants gain the best experience possible to support them in understanding Deaf Awareness.\nParticipants will come away with easy to remember communication tips and some basic knowledge of some British Sign Language all of which can be instantly put to use in their workplace improving support to those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.\nThis will ensure more effective communication with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss\, in activities and everyday situations.\nWHO ARE EMPOWERING DEAF SOCIETY?\nWe are a deaf-led Charity based in East London\, dedicated to improving the quality of life for deaf people. Our aim is to ensure that the standards of Access improve for deaf people. Access to information\, justice and knowledge is key for any society to succeed.\nWe work with local community services and businesses to raise awareness about the Deaf community\, focusing on social integration and improving communication and understanding between the two cultures of the deaf and hearing communities\nWHAT IS INCLUDED IN OUR TRAINING WORKSHOP\nOur Deaf Awareness training consists of two one hour Zoom sessions.\nThe first part consists of a one-hour presentation\, introducing the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlighting strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges deaf people face everyday in order to improve your communication skills with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss.\nThis will then be followed by another one hour zoom session giving you an Introduction to British Sign Language Skills to use when communicating with the Deaf Community.\nThese sessions can be booked to run concurrently or split over different times and days.\nParticipants must have attended the first part of this workshop to be able to book on to the second hour – an Introduction to BSL.\n\nWANT TO BOOK AN EDS DEAF AWARENESS TRAINING WORKSHOP?\nClick HERE to book a space on our upcoming workshops\nIf you have any queries and/or would like to book a Deaf Awareness training workshop with us please do not hesitate to contact us.
