DESCRIPTION:I am Professor Joanne Harris\, and I am delighted to have joined the University of East London this month as the new Dean of Medicine. In addition to my education role\, I also practice as a GP in London. The University is embarking on an exciting initiative to establish a GMC-accredited MBBS undergraduate School of Medicine at the Stratford campus\, with the first cohort of students set to begin in 2027. As we develop this programme\, we aim to leverage the comprehensive resources of the UEL Health Campus to create enriching learning opportunities for local healthcare providers\, including both medical and Allied Health professionals. \nBuilding on the success of the workshop series as part of the Postgraduate Academy of Health education programme\, previously developed and delivered to our Health Fellows\, we are expanding these offerings to a broader audience. As part of this initiative\, we will be hosting a series of lunchtime webinars covering a range of topics relevant to local healthcare providers. \nThe webinars will be conducted online and will run from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Tuesdays\, Wednesdays or Thursdays. SUMMARY:Demystifying Self-Harm (Virtually delivered 3 hours)
DESCRIPTION:This course will allow the space for participants to openly explore thoughts/feelings and to have open conversations about self-harm. This workshop will allow the space for participants to have open conversations about self-harm\, including unpacking our own feelings and attitudes around self-harm (including thinking about our own faith\, beliefs\, life experience) and acknowledge them so that we are informed of how they may present and impact the support we provide. \nCLICK HERE for dates and more course details \nNOTE there is a £50 charge that will be enforced for failure to turn up following booking\, or cancellations less than 10 days prior to course.
