SUMMARY:Admin & Reception staff: Active Signposting/Care Navigation (3 hours)
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER  \nOverview: The key objective of Care Navigation and Active Signposting is to help patients access the right care at the earliest opportunity. It is a system of ‘triage’ carried out at the first point of contact with the GP Practice by non-clinical staff under direction of the clinical team.  \nObjective: Active Signposting is a tool to develop the skills and career paths of non-clinical staff. Staff will learn:  \n\nHow to move away from a passive role and have a more direct impact on patient health outcomes. \nDevelop the skills and abilities needed to undertake Active Signposting \nEstablish a clear understanding of the options available locally and be confident in advising and referring patients to care providers who work either within the practice team\, primary care network or to external care providers. \n\nLearning Outcomes also include:  \n\nEnhancing skills and confidence to deliver care navigation\, active signposting and triage \nUnderstanding the elements of signposting \nRealising the benefits: patients and practice \nExploring and adapting protocols \nUsing information technology to empower patients \nMaximising patient engagement within your role \nCommunicating with patients effectively \nEnsuring patient and staff safety \nMaking every contact count \n\nActive Signposting can present a challenging cultural shift for some teams – and the workshop will explore the mechanisms to help make the changes as smooth as possible – some of this will build on the existing understanding\, within the practice\, of the need to change and a realisation of benefits these changes can have.  \nThere will be interactive exercises throughout the session that will require the attendees to think about a situation that they have previously encountered and to think about how they deal with it and what they would do differently. This will be based on typical scenarios found in GP Practices and will be an opportunity for participants to develop new techniques to deal with enhanced patient interactions. Emphasis will be on developing confident communication skills.  \nTraining Provider: Practice Managers Association (PMA)

This is due to:  \n1) The high volume of applications for some of the training\, which comes in at a faster rate than can be effectively managed in real time.  \n2) Incomplete or missing information that means your application will be rejected.  \n3) Finding that you have applied for inappropriate training for your job role.  \nPreparing for the Training Session  \nPlease check that you have received the joining link for your session at least 48hrs prior to the start date.  \nPlease check your junk email folder as you will receive the joining link a minimum of twice from the provider.  \nIf you ask for the login on the day of the event you may not receive it in time\, and this will count as a DNA.  \nYou may be sent some pre-training work which is essential to the smooth-running of the training session itself. However\, some training will request mobile phone use for interactive elements\, such as quizzes.  \nIf you login late\, you may not be accepted into the training\, and this will count as a DNA.  \nIf you leave a session early you will not receive your certificate – depending on how early you leave\, this may count as a DNA.  \nCancellations  \nIf you need to cancel\, please give a minimum of 5 working days’ notice (e.g. if the training is on Thursday\, you need to let us know by 5pm on Wednesday the week before) so that we have time to fill the space. If you do not\, this will count as a DNA.  \nTo cancel\, you must email nelondonicb.cpd@nhs.net – do not email the trainer directly.  \nOnce you have received confirmation that you have a place on the training session\, please liaise with your Practice Manager to organise your clinical schedule. Failure to do so\, without cancelling with 5 full working days’ notice\, will count as a DNA.  \nDNA Policy  \n1st DNA: You and your Manager will receive an email informing you that you have DNA’d a pre-booked session without cancellation.  \n2nd DNA: You will automatically be removed from any further CPD training for the current financial year. You and your Manager will receive confirmation of this by email.  \nIf you have to cancel your place later than 5 full working days prior to the start of the session\, please email nelondonicb.cpd@nhs.net explaining your exceptional circumstances\, and these will be taken into consideration when deciding whether it counts as a DNA.
