Do you want to learn to recognise factors that may increase suicide risk and those that may mitigate it? DESCRIPTION:East London Health and Care Partnership invite all public and voluntary sector organisations to participate in this half day workshop to improve knowledge\, skills and understanding in supporting those bereaved through suicide.\nThe partnership are working with Rosedale Training\, to deliver these workshops. SUMMARY:NEL Admin & Reception training: Medical Terminology: Advanced (3 hours)
DESCRIPTION:Audience: Administration and Reception staff \nVirtual workshop for those who have the undertaken the Introduction to Medical Terminology who have a good understanding of the component parts of medical terminology. Use of a standard set of terms and phrase is critical for clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals in order to enable universally consistent communications within the practice and across the Primary Care Network and the wider health services. The use of standardised medical terminology also helps improve the quality of patient care by ensuring that the same words will always mean the same things to all medical employees. \nAll participants will be able to apply the learning to every-day situations back in the practice. The workshop builds on the skills of the administration\, clerical and clinical support staff and will enhance their understanding of medical terminology. It provides a continuation of the professional development for staff working in a clinical environment such as HCAs\, physiotherapy assistants\, assistant practice managers\, practice pharmacy assistants\, and those responsible for clinical coding etc. Participants will further enhance their confidence\, their communication skills and service delivery. Patients and their carers can also benefit from enhanced knowledge and insight of the relevant medical terminology. \nLearning Outcomes Participants will expand their knowledge of abbreviations\, root words\, suffixes & prefixes and will develop their understanding into a wider-range of diseases\, physiology\, anatomy and all of the bodies systems. SUMMARY:Foundations in Motivational Interviewing (MI): “Exploring Motivation and Facilitating Change”
DESCRIPTION:(delivered across multiple dates/formats) – funded for NEL staff \nDelivery led by Sophie Dissanayake\, Learning and Development Practitioner & MI Trainer (MINT network trainer) \nMotivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred counselling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. North East London Training Hubs have funded limited places for local Health and Social Care workforce to access these courses. The programme will introduce\, evidence-based skills and strategies to 1) explore people’s ambivalence to change health damaging behaviours and  2) facilitate positive lifestyle change \nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. The course (equivalent to two days) introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings. \nThe course is valued at £200pp\, and this is funded by the Training Hub. It is also CPD accredited and certificates will only be issued following completion of the training. Participants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. Late comers will not be allowed entry.
