Sarah now works as a Learning and Development Practitioner\, and the Mental Health faculty Lead for ‘Training for Mental Health’. Sarah has in recent years led on the delivery of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention training to the workforce of North East London. She is a licensed trainer of many national and internationally accredited programmes including Mental Health First Aid packages for Adult and Youth\, safeTALK\, ASIST\, Suicide First Aid and The ASK (assessing suicide in kids) Workshop. SUMMARY:Foundations in Motivational Interviewing Training: a focus on Vaccine Hesitancy
DESCRIPTION:Do you have conversations with the residents that may help their understanding and decision on uptake of Vaccinations for them and their family? If so\, why not develop MI skills to support these conversations and more \n  \nMotivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based\, person-centred communication style aimed at having helpful conversations with others about change. \n  \nTower Hamlets Training Hub are pleased to extend this offer to NEL wide staff to introduce this new lively and interactive training. You will learn how to have supportive and effective conversations with others about vaccines. You will also learn about Motivational Interviewing in general which can be used in a range of situations and contexts such as; lifestyle changes\, substance misuse\, long-term conditions and child and family welfare . \nThe 12 hour training will cover; \n\nWhat is Motivational Interviewing and how can it be helpful in situations such as vaccine hesitancy\nHow to engage with people in conversations around change and considering vaccines\nActive listening skills\nHow to identify when someone may be ready to make changes or decide to take a vaccine\nHow to share information in a helpful way which supports partnership\nCollaborative change and action planning\nHow to manage conversations when there are challenges in engagement or barriers to making a decision about vaccines\n\nOn full completion of this training you will get a certificate and the opportunity to complete more advanced training and development in Motivational Interviewing. \nPlease click on the desired cohort below to register a place. During the course you will cover a variety of different topics including numbers & time\, home and travel and the beginnings of a conversation. \nCourse outcomes: \nBy the end of the course learners will: \n\nHave an awareness and understanding of Deaf culture\nUnderstand the barriers faced by people with hearing loss\nFeel confident about communicating with people who are deaf or have hearing loss\nUnderstand that regions within the UK use different signs for words\nBe able to recognise and sign the alphabet and numbers\nBe able to ask and recognise and sign questions e.g. what\, why\, who\, whose\, how\, how much\, when?\nBe able to sign basic greetings and the beginning of conversations\n\nDate: Every Thursday for six weeks – (All dates must be attended) \n\nThursday 2nd November\nThursday 9th November\nThursday 16th November\nThursday 23rd November\nThursday 30th November\nThursday 7th December\n\nTime: 3pm – 5pm \nVenue: The Enabled Living Lounge\, 200 Chargeable Lane\, Plaistow E13 8DW \nCancellation and non-attendance: \nThis course is fully funded by Enabled Living however failure to attend all six dates will incur a £50.00 cancellation charge.
