DESCRIPTION:Helena is a GP and Greater Manchester’s Early Diagnosis Lead for Gynaecological Cancers\, she is also Deputy Chair of Peaches Womb Cancer Trust charity.    \nIn the webinar she will be discussing postmenopausal bleeding and when it’s a red flag symptom for cancer\, the risk factors for endometrial cancer\, how to manage bleeding in your patients\, what examinations you can carry out on a patient to help determine a diagnosis and when to refer into secondary care. DESCRIPTION:I am Professor Joanne Harris\, and I am delighted to have joined the University of East London this month as the new Dean of Medicine. In addition to my education role\, I also practice as a GP in London. The University is embarking on an exciting initiative to establish a GMC-accredited MBBS undergraduate School of Medicine at the Stratford campus\, with the first cohort of students set to begin in 2027. As we develop this programme\, we aim to leverage the comprehensive resources of the UEL Health Campus to create enriching learning opportunities for local healthcare providers\, including both medical and Allied Health professionals. \nBuilding on the success of the workshop series as part of the Postgraduate Academy of Health education programme\, previously developed and delivered to our Health Fellows\, we are expanding these offerings to a broader audience. As part of this initiative\, we will be hosting a series of lunchtime webinars covering a range of topics relevant to local healthcare providers. \nThe webinars will be conducted online and will run from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Tuesdays\, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Well just try our FREE training workshop and see for yourself.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur FREE Deaf Awareness training is a great opportunity for you and your staff to break down the barriers that most deaf people face by developing Deaf Awareness and accessibility.\nWHY DO YOU NEED TO BE DEAF AWARE?\nDid you know that in the UK\, 1 in 6 people have some degree of hearing loss? that’s about 10 million people!\nBeing deaf aware is a great way to promote inclusion and improve access for all deaf people and those with a hearing loss.\nOur workshop will introduce the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlight strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges facing Deaf people.\nHOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME?\nEDS aims to ensure all participants gain the best experience possible to support them in understanding Deaf Awareness.\nParticipants will come away with easy to remember communication tips and some basic knowledge of some British Sign Language all of which can be instantly put to use in their workplace improving support to those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.\nThis will ensure more effective communication with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss\, in activities and everyday situations.\nWHO ARE EMPOWERING DEAF SOCIETY?\nWe are a deaf-led Charity based in East London\, dedicated to improving the quality of life for deaf people. Our aim is to ensure that the standards of Access improve for deaf people. The University is embarking on an exciting initiative to establish a GMC-accredited MBBS undergraduate School of Medicine at the Stratford campus\, with the first cohort of students set to begin in 2027. As we develop this programme\, we aim to leverage the comprehensive resources of the UEL Health Campus to create enriching learning opportunities for local healthcare providers\, including both medical and Allied Health professionals. \nBuilding on the success of the workshop series as part of the Postgraduate Academy of Health education programme\, previously developed and delivered to our Health Fellows\, we are expanding these offerings to a broader audience. DESCRIPTION:FOR North East London Social Prescribing Managers\, and Social Prescribing Link Workers\, Mental Health Community Connectors (ELFT & NELFT)\, and similar Personalised Care roles\,\n\nOver recent years your feedback and reporting have shown that a significant proportion of social prescribing and those with mental health issues also have issues with housing\, welfare benefits claims\, debt\, cost of living and similar issues.\n\nThis free training has been specially designed for social prescribing link workers and similar roles\, such as mental health community connectors and others\, in the North East London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham\, City & Hackney\, Havering\, Newham\, Redbridge\, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest.\n\nIt will equip you with a greater understanding of these issues\, how to ask your clients about them and how to support your clients to access the right advice in your borough. SUMMARY:Supporting primary care to deliver earlier diagnosis for suspected bowel cancer patients
DESCRIPTION:Join Bowel Cancer UK’s first ever primary care virtual education event on Thursday 19 June 2025\, delivered online via Zoom\, 6.30 – 7.30pm. The session will be led by Claire Coughlan\, Clinical Lead at Bowel Cancer UK and Nurse Consultant in colorectal cancer at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Claire will be joined by Dr Anisha Patel who will deliver a short session exploring cancer care reviews within primary care.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe session will provide an overview of colorectal cancer\, its risk factors and red flag symptoms. As well as the use of FIT in symptomatic patients within primary care and the bowel cancer screening programme as a route to diagnosis.
