SUMMARY:An Introduction to Medical Terminology
DESCRIPTION:Audience: Administration and Reception staff \nThis web workshop session is for those who would benefit from understanding the component parts of medical terminology. An understanding of medical terminology is essential for anyone working in the medical industry. Delegates will be able to apply the learning to every-day situations back in the practice. The session gives administration\, clerical and clinical support staff an introduction to the understanding of general medical terminology. It provides an excellent professional development opportunity for staff working in a clinical environment such as HCAs\, physiotherapy assistants\, assistant practice managers\, practice pharmacy assistants\, clinical coding etc. Participants will improve their confidence\, their communication skills and service delivery. \nCourse provider: Practice Management Association \n\n\n\nRules of engagement  \n(MUST READ)  \n\nAll courses are delivered virtually via Teams or Zoom \n\n\nDates are offered from September onwards. Additional dates will be added based on demand and need. Your Training Hub will be providing regular updates on new topics and dates. Where places are fully subscribed\, do add your name to the waiting list to be offered priority place on future dates. \n\n\nRegistering on the courses are mandatory. This is typically through Eventbrite platform \n\n\nIn the event of needing to cancel place(s)\, this must be done via the Eventbrite platform \n\n\nSignificant public funds are being invested on these programmes to support staff development. Booking on a workshop and not turning up will incur a DNA charge. This will be the cost price of the place on the workshop. These are not free but funded Attendance/Non-attendance report will be produced and shared with your local Training Hub team \n\n\nTo ensure a high quality learning experience\, all the workshops will be interactive. To enable this you MUST have a working camera and mics to participate. You may be asked by the facilitator on the day to leave if you do not have a working camera and/or mic \n\n\nLearners are expected to join in a timely manner\, and participate in the training fully. Late entries will not be given entry. Partial participation will result in certificate not being issued and line management will be informed \n\n\nJoining links will be circulated 48-72 hours prior to delivery date. Classroom teaching will take one full day and will be held at the London Regional Cytology Training Centre based at Northwick Park Hospital. \nFollowing on from this clinical practice & portfolio work\, under the supervision of a mentor\, will need to be completed with a final external assessment. NEL Training Hubs will be able to provide an external assessor for you. \nThe whole training registration pathway can take up to six months to complete and all components are compulsory for staff wishing to take cervical samples \nYour employers support is essential to complete this course. \nApplicants are advised to familiarise themselves with the current guidance for sample-taker training updated Feb 2020 – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cervical-screening-cervical-sample- taker-training \nThere are limited FREE places available and the course cost will be covered for you. Where places are fully subscribed\, do add your name to the waiting list to be offered priority place on future dates. \n\n\nRegistering on the courses are mandatory. This is typically through Eventbrite platform \n\n\nIn the event of needing to cancel place(s)\, this must be done via the Eventbrite platform \n\n\nSignificant public funds are being invested on these programmes to support staff development. Booking on a workshop and not turning up will incur a DNA charge. This will be the cost price of the place on the workshop. These are not free but funded Attendance/Non-attendance report will be produced and shared with your local Training Hub team \n\n\nTo ensure a high quality learning experience\, all the workshops will be interactive. To enable this you MUST have a working camera and mics to participate. You may be asked by the facilitator on the day to leave if you do not have a working camera and/or mic \n\n\nLearners are expected to join in a timely manner\, and participate in the training fully. Late entries will not be given entry. Partial participation will result in certificate not being issued and line management will be informed \n\n\nJoining links will be circulated 48-72 hours prior to delivery date. Once delegate book on a course\, they are expected to ensure diary is blocked to participate in the session \n\n\nWe expect learners to ensure protected time\, space and equipment is accessible prior to registering. This should be a place and time with minimal distraction. Practice Management should be supporting staff to facilitate this \n\n\nWe expect all learners to participate in the evaluation process of the programme. This would include on the day feedback\, and impact survey that will be carried out 12 – 16 weeks post training. HEE is seeking to commission universities to provide a new Adult Nursing degree aimed at providing a pathway into first destination employment in community\, primary and social care services.  \nBlended learning creates innovative and accessible healthcare programmes\, using the latest digital and other technologies to attract a more diverse student population.  \nWho should attend:  \nEmployers\, registered professionals\, key stakeholders\, student and newly qualified nurses working in community\, social\, and primary care services.
