SUMMARY:Demystifying Self-Harm (virtual 3 hour workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Various dates from June – November 2023 \nThis course will allow the space for participants to openly explore thoughts/feelings and to have open conversations about self-harm. This workshop will allow the space for participants to have open conversations about self-harm\, including unpacking our own feelings and attitudes around self-harm (including thinking about our own faith\, beliefs\, life experience) and acknowledge them so that we are informed of how they may present and impact the support we provide. \nCLICK HERE for dates and more course details \nNOTE there is a £75 charge that will be enforced for failure to turn up following booking\, or cancellations less than 10 days prior to course. \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date** \nTrainer Bio – Sarah Tahsildar\nSarah is a Qualified Social Worker and has over 15 years’ experience of working in the health and social care sector\, including domestic abuse services\, children centres\, adoption and fostering teams and homelessness services. Sarah now works as a Learning and Development Practitioner\, and the Mental Health faculty Lead for ‘Training for Mental Health’. Sarah has in recent years led on the delivery of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention training to the workforce of North East London. She is a licensed trainer of many national and internationally accredited programmes including Mental Health First Aid packages for Adult and Youth\, safeTALK\, ASIST\, Suicide First Aid and The ASK (assessing suicide in kids) Workshop. She is also one of the founding members of TTEO (Through The Eyes Of) Virtual Reality based training programme aiming to increase understanding and empathy in mental health. \nWhat previous attendees have fed back: \n“The layout and the training was very helpful as it highlighted potential risk factors and helpful support strategies that can be used to help people struggling with self-harm”\n“The trainer’s delivery was excellent- she was exceptionally engaging and gave everyone importance. We are keen to invite local health and care teams to enhance awareness and understanding of the challenges encountered by asylum seekers and refugees. \nThis training will equip staff with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the integration of asylum seekers into the community. \nDates available: \n\n29th June 2-4pm\n13th July 2-4pm\n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nAfter a successful pilot session\, The Training Hub is delighted to introduce new dates for the two-hour introductory course on welcoming asylum seekers. With new dispersal accommodations being opened all around London\, this training will equip staff with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the integration of asylum seekers into the community. This workshop will allow the space for participants to have open conversations about self-harm\, including unpacking our own feelings and attitudes around self-harm (including thinking about our own faith\, beliefs\, life experience) and acknowledge them so that we are informed of how they may present and impact the support we provide. \nCLICK HERE for dates and more course details \nNOTE there is a £75 charge that will be enforced for failure to turn up following booking\, or cancellations less than 10 days prior to course. \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date** \nTrainer Bio – Sarah Tahsildar\nSarah is a Qualified Social Worker and has over 15 years’ experience of working in the health and social care sector\, including domestic abuse services\, children centres\, adoption and fostering teams and homelessness services. Sarah now works as a Learning and Development Practitioner\, and the Mental Health faculty Lead for ‘Training for Mental Health’. Sarah has in recent years led on the delivery of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention training to the workforce of North East London. She is a licensed trainer of many national and internationally accredited programmes including Mental Health First Aid packages for Adult and Youth\, safeTALK\, ASIST\, Suicide First Aid and The ASK (assessing suicide in kids) Workshop. SUMMARY:Foundations in Motivational Interviewing (MI): “Exploring Motivation and Facilitating Change”(delivered across multiple dates/formats) – funded for NEL staff
DESCRIPTION:Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred counselling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. North East London Training Hubs have funded limited places for local Health and Social Care workforce to access these courses. The programme will introduce\, evidence-based skills and strategies to 1) explore people’s ambivalence to change health damaging behaviours and  2) facilitate positive lifestyle change \nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. The course (equivalent to two days) introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings.  \nThe course is valued at £200pp\, and this is funded by the Training Hub. It is also CPD accredited and certificates will only be issued following completion of the training. Participants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. Late comers will not be allowed entry. SUMMARY:Giving out Normal Blood Test
DESCRIPTION:This 2 hour workshop delivered virtually aims to support non clinical reception and administrative staff to confidently give out normal blood results. The workshop is based on the Bromley By Bow Health partnership training where in the initial 3 months post training they had saved around 50-60 appointments. Audit had revealed 100% accuracy giving out results (ie those patients that were told the results were normal did actually have normal results and no one was falsely told this). Feedback from staff has been positive\, including improved staff and patient satisfaction and reduction on call volumes from clinicians. \nLearner on the course will be able to:\n· Learn how to give out normal blood results as well as other tests including scans\, swabs\, urine and more to patients safely.
