This programme was previously known as the Asylum Welcome Design Lab. \nWe are keen to invite local health and care teams (and wider public sector teams who play a role in supporting) to enhance their awareness and understanding of the challenges encountered by people seeking sanctuary. With new dispersal accommodations opening all around London\, this training will equip staff with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the integration of asylum seekers into the community. The training will be delivered in collaboration with REAP (Refugees in Effective and Active Partnership)\, and the pilot session received plenty of positive feedback. Registered delegates will receive their personal set of CRAFT cards\, which are used during and then following the event\, plus a responsibility reminder training aid! Delegates will interact\, participate and influence the content of the day which will use bespoke situations to demonstrate the MI skills and they will not be asked to role play or listen to us reading through endless power point slides.\nWe all went into our roles to make a difference; we feel that we can make things ‘right’ for service users and their families and we spend much of our time trying to do so.\nIf you spend your life explaining what your service users should\, could\, must or need to do then this is the course for you. Motivational interviewing is a style of communication that uses a guiding/reflective style to engage with people\, clarify their strengths and aspirations\, and utilise their own motivations for change\, and promote independence of decision making.\nIf this is sounding a little flowery\, in a nutshell\, MI saves your breath\, your time and you are more effective when it comes to people making decisions about themselves. The feedback we regularly receive is that MI also helps to avoid burn out. \nWhat happens on the day?\nWe will use memorable explanations\, demonstrations\, interaction in pairs and most importantly relax and have fun. The extensive wardrobe and scenery available at our large training studio allows the tutors to create characters and situations to demonstrate the topics which are pertinent to our delegates. DESCRIPTION:Various dates from June – November 2023 \nThis course will allow the space for participants to openly explore thoughts/feelings and to have open conversations about self-harm. This workshop will allow the space for participants to have open conversations about self-harm\, including unpacking our own feelings and attitudes around self-harm (including thinking about our own faith\, beliefs\, life experience) and acknowledge them so that we are informed of how they may present and impact the support we provide. \nCLICK HERE for dates and more course details \nNOTE there is a £75 charge that will be enforced for failure to turn up following booking\, or cancellations less than 10 days prior to course. \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date** \nTrainer Bio – Sarah Tahsildar\nSarah is a Qualified Social Worker and has over 15 years’ experience of working in the health and social care sector\, including domestic abuse services\, children centres\, adoption and fostering teams and homelessness services. Sarah now works as a Learning and Development Practitioner\, and the Mental Health faculty Lead for ‘Training for Mental Health’. Sarah has in recent years led on the delivery of Mental Health & Suicide Prevention training to the workforce of North East London. She is a licensed trainer of many national and internationally accredited programmes including Mental Health First Aid packages for Adult and Youth\, safeTALK\, ASIST\, Suicide First Aid and The ASK (assessing suicide in kids) Workshop. She is also one of the founding members of TTEO (Through The Eyes Of) Virtual Reality based training programme aiming to increase understanding and empathy in mental health. \nWhat previous attendees have fed back: \n“The layout and the training was very helpful as it highlighted potential risk factors and helpful support strategies that can be used to help people struggling with self-harm”\n“The trainer’s delivery was excellent- she was exceptionally engaging and gave everyone importance. SUMMARY:Working with children displaying harmful sexual behaviours
DESCRIPTION:This training is offered to social care workers\, health care workers and mental health professionals in North East London. \nHarmful Sexual Behaviours have become a growing area of concern in all sectors\, including the education sector (DfE report on children & young people who display HSB in schools and colleges\, December 2017). \nThe course will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to effectively understand and identify behaviours of children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviours.
