They have provided training to over 30\,000 professionals across various settings\, including local authorities\, educational institutions (such as schools\, colleges\, and universities)\, large international commercial organizations\, arts organizations\, small charities\, foster care and children’s home settings\, CAMHS\, secure mental health settings\, residential clinics\, and within the wider statutory\, not-for-profit\, and commercial sectors. This programme was previously known as the Asylum Welcome Design Lab. \nWe are keen to invite local health and care teams (and wider public sector teams who play a role in supporting) to enhance their awareness and understanding of the challenges encountered by people seeking sanctuary. With new dispersal accommodations opening all around London\, this training will equip staff with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the integration of asylum seekers into the community. The training will be delivered in collaboration with REAP (Refugees in Effective and Active Partnership)\, and the pilot session received plenty of positive feedback. DESCRIPTION:Various Dates from September – December 2023 \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThis newly launched three hour course delivered virtually provides an introduction to disordered eating in adults\, aiming to increase awareness and understanding. Delivered by a trainer with lived experience of eating disorders\, it provides insight into the challenges associated with recovery and guidance on how to make sense of disordered eating and it’s function for the individual. The session is aimed broadly at anyone with an interest in learning more about these issues. \nThe following topics are included in the session: \n• Grounding eating disorders in fact: addressing myths and misconceptions\n• The spectrum of eating behaviour and eating disorder diagnoses.\n• Understanding the function of an eating disorder\n• Weight stigma and its impact\n• Early intervention and barriers to accessing support\n• Person-centered care and support: what you can do to help \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date** \nTrainer bio – Katharine Lazenby\nKatharine Lazenby is mental health expert by experience\, drawing on her lived experience of eating disorders\, psychiatric treatment and hospitalization. She is currently a Project Manager at East London NHS Foundation Trust but has extensive experience as a mental health trainer within the public sector\, educator and public speaker. As a visiting scholar at London Southbank University\, she lectures on the lived experience of eating disorders and psychologically informed environments. She sits on the board of directors for the Design in Mental Health Network and has spoken at a number of national conferences about her lived experience of mental health care and recovery.
