DESCRIPTION:Do You Want To Become A Mental Health First Aider? \nWe are pleased to offer all staff working in North East London with the opportunity to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider.\nThe Adult MHFA course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider\, course accredited by the Royal Society of Public Health. Course is currently only available online. Please see listings below for available dates. \nThis course is usually delivered over 2 full days however the online delivery is across 4 bitesize learning sessions. Completion of course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider\, giving you: \n\nAn in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing\nPractical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues\nConfidence to step in\, reassure and support a person in distress\nEnhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening\nKnowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources\, through their employer\, the NHS\, or a mix\n\nHow is the course delivered? And what is the course structure?\nCourse is delivered across 2 days (or 4 bitesize sessions online across four days)\, and learning takes place across four manageable sessions. Through a mix of group activities\, presentations and discussions\, each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan. Our courses are always delivered by experienced instructors. No background knowledge of mental health required. Funded places are available for people who work in the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham\, City & Hackney\, Havering\, Newham\, Redbridge\, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest \nYou will be expected to participate in the programme evaluation to help us learn assess impact of learning and improve future delivery. You will receive a copy of the 275 pages MHFA manual (left) and workbook\, and a certificate will be emailed by MHFA England following attendance \nWhat will you learn?\nYou will learn about a range of mental health issues: depression\, suicidal crisis\, anxiety\, personality disorders\, eating disorders\, self-harm\, psychosis\, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. You will learn how to: \n\nRecognise the symptoms of mental health issues\nProvide initial help\nGuide a person towards appropriate professional help\n\nHow much does it cost?\nThe standard cost is £300 per person.\nNOTE places are funded by North East London Health and Care Partnership and supported by the NEL Training Hub. DESCRIPTION:HEE London GP School GP Educator Pathway\nThe GP Supervisors Course is mandatory for all GPs who wish to become educational supervisors\, or a placement named clinical supervisors in primary care. This includes those wanting to be the educational supervisor of GPs in specialty training (aka a GP trainer) or the named clinical supervisor for GP STs or foundation doctors in clinical placements in general practice. This interactive course runs over 11 weeks (3 hours contact per week) on a virtual platform and has approximately 45 hours’ time commitment (33 hours contact plus preparation).\nEligibility \nTo be eligible to apply\, participants will need to provide evidence of: \n\nBeing in a substantive GP post in London (Salaried GP or partner working a minimum of 4 clinical sessions a week)\nAt least 2 years post CCT (or equivalent)\nCapacity to attend all online sessions\nCapacity and support to train Foundation Doctors and/or GP specialty trainees within 1 year of completion\nEngagement with your local clinical and educational supervisor workshop. The North East London ICS has developed a Green Plan\, in which we committed to providing education and awareness to all primary care staff. \nJoin our Clinical Leads for Net Zero from Primary Care to learn about how the climate crisis is a health crisis and understand about how primary care transformation can help us reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint. \nThe first session takes place on 15 September and they are open to all clinical and non-clinical Primary Care colleagues working in North East London. Previous attendees to this training demonstrated a real desire to make a real difference to the suicide statistics and better help and support those who have been bereaved through suicide.\nAims of the training will be;\n• For delegates to feel confident supporting those who have been bereaved through Suicide\n• To be able to use appropriate language.\n• Understand what may and may not be helpful.\n• Be familiar and confident using The Help Is at Hand book.\n• Be able to signpost to other organisations who offer specialist support if required.\nYou will be required to provide a postal address for learning materials to be sent to you\nNote\, although the workshop is funded\, there will be DNA charge enforced if you fail to turn up following booking.

All courses are being held at Bernie Cameron Centre\, 32 Merchant St\, London E3 4LX \n(few mins walk from Bow Tube station) \nDo you want to become aware of the ways children at risk of suicide communicate their need for help? Do you want to learn to recognise factors that may increase suicide risk and those that may mitigate it? Do you wish to understand and be able to meet common challenges in working with parents to facilitate safety. Participants of The “ASK” WorkshopTM leave better equipped to reduce the risk of suicide and enlist help for young children \n\nWe are delighted to offer this face to face delivery of The ASK Workshop. This one day workshop is targeted at staff working with and caring for children age 5 – 15 years of age. Click on the link below to access further information and dates available to book.
