North East London Training Hubs have funded limited places for local Health and Social Care workforce to access these courses. The programme will introduce\, evidence-based skills and strategies to 1) explore people’s ambivalence to change health damaging behaviours and  2) facilitate positive lifestyle change \nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. The course (equivalent to two days) introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings. \n  \nParticipants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider. \nSuicide First Aid Lite (Virtual) training offers learning outcomes that are knowledge based and factual. This training can be used as a stand-alone programme or as the first part of a journey to learn suicide prevention skills. \nMethod of delivery: \nTaught over half day using tutor facilitated socratic learning\, tutor-led role- play\, mini lectures\, group work and audio-visual presentations. This is a has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience. Use of Camera and microphone is essential for quality and safety reasons\, otherwise you will be asked to leave the session \nPre-training requirement \nNo previous experience or training is necessary.
