SUMMARY:The "ASK" Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In just one day\, you can learn how to help a child at risk of suicide become a child with hope for life \nChildren are not small adults. So why use approaches designed for adults to help a child? The ASK Workshop (currently only delivered virtually due to the pandemic) is the only suicide prevention workshop that specifically addresses suicide risk in children and gives participants developmentally appropriate strategies and tools to identify young children at risk of suicide and quickly gather and organise key details needed to assess risk and inform safety planning.\nWithout help\, children thinking of suicide may become teens who act on those thoughts. \nIn just one day (2 half days when delivered remotely)\, we can teach you what to look for\, how to respond\, and what to do\, that can make a life-saving difference for a child at risk of suicide. \nThe ASK Workshop is a one-day (2 half days when delivered remotely)\, evidence-informed and highly interactive suicide prevention training. \nLearn from informative video\, mini-lectures\, and group discussions. Apply and practice as you learn with case studies and guided simulations. Leave with tools and templates you can integrate into your practice immediately. \nWhat are the learning objectives? \nLearning objectives The desired learning outcomes of The “ASK” WorkshopTM are that participants will: \n• recognise how a child’s understandings of death and suicide may be implicated in risk \n• become aware of the ways children at risk of suicide communicate their need for help \n• recognise factors that may increase suicide risk and those that may mitigate it \n• know how to work with both in order to formulate the basis of a plan for safety \n• recognise the need to enlist the support of others to develop a plan for safety \n• understand and be able to meet common challenges in working with parents to facilitate safety. Participants of The “ASK” WorkshopTM leave better equipped to reduce the risk of suicide and enlist help for young children \nHow is the course run? \nWorkshop process The “ASK” WorkshopTM successfully blends a variety of teaching and learning modalities including mini-lecture\, Socratic dialogue\, video\, small group work\, guided simulations\, and case studies \nYou will be required to complete some self paced online study modules prior to the course start date. You will be contacted 7-10 days prior to the course start date with further information regarding this. This is a mandatory for you to participate in the course. Failure to complete this will result in you not being able attend the live session therefore in curing a failure to attend ‘DNA’ charge. \n  \nHow to register? What are the future dates?
