SUMMARY:Awareness and Understanding of Autism in Adults
DESCRIPTION:The workshop objectives include: \n\nAn introduction to the Spectrum\nCharacteristics of autism\nCommunication\n Rigidity and repetitive behaviours\n Sensory\n Strengths\nWhat works\nLegislative requirements\n\nCourse facilitation The course will be delivered in a combination of theory\, as well as practical and interactive exercises. Attendees will also have the opportunity to consider action points going forward after the course. Trainer Manar Matusiak has over 20 years’ experience at director level in the specialist care and education sector\, in particular in the field of autism. She helped to set up and develop the first transitional residential service in the country for young adults with autism and complex needs. Her background is in teaching and management. During her career\, she was Personal and Professional Development Director for one of the national specialist autism providers\, overseeing the development. She is currently Managing Director of Living Autism and she trains and coaches nationally across all sectors This is an introductory workshop and may not be suitable for those in clinical settings. Workshops are based on small group interactions. Please do ensure you are committed to attending the full duration of the workshop. The workshop is costed at £75 PP and has been funded by North East London Health and Care Partnership

SUMMARY:TNW - UCLP Proactive Care to Support Primary care
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has undoubtedly had an impact on Primary Care and the full impact of this is only now emerging. Primary Care now faces a huge backlog of unmet patient need\, with patients facing long waits for treatment. During this recovery phase\, there is an opportunity to create a healthier\, more resilient society\, by ensuring patients are provided with the tools to be able manage their long term conditions better. Part of the wider strategy to assist recovery aims to enable Primary Care to be furnished with tools that will allow risk stratification of their patients with long term conditions. This approach will allow practices to prioritise patients who are at the highest risk of an exacerbation and intervene in a proactive way. In order for Primary Care to rise to the challenge and provide a consistent standard of care to all patients\, it is essential there is a step change in the way patients with long term conditions are supported and their care managed. There is now a greater emphasis on workforce and allowing skill mix in general practice to help address the backlog that Primary Care is now facing.(6) This approach will allow patients to be seen quickly\, efficiently and by the most appropriate healthcare clinician. \nUCL Partners have developed and defined search and stratification tools to support primary care teams prioritise care appropriately for people with long-term conditions.  These tools can be used to stratify patients into low\, medium\, and high-risk of deterioration to help practices with the recovery work. \nLEARNING OUTCOMES\n\nTo understand how the UCL Partners tools can support Primary Care\nTo understand how to use the UCLP tools to help manage workload in Primary Care and prioritise patients with the greatest needs\nTo understand how practices have adapted the model to support delivery of both national and local enhanced schemes\nTo understand how to access the UCLP tools and other tools to support the recovery phase

SUMMARY:Awareness of Harmful Sexual Behaviour Foundation Course
DESCRIPTION:Target audience \nThis course is targeted at caseworkers who are new to this area of work\, youth workers\, social care staff and foster carers who care for children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour (HSB). \nDue to the subject matter\, a safe space in which to undertake this training with minimal interruptions\, where possible\, is required. This is pertinent to those working from home\, particularly with children present. \n Course Aim \nHSB can provoke considerable anxiety in parent/carers and professionals. This one day course aims to demystify this whole area of work\, increase awareness and empower carers and professionals to use transferable skills when managing children and young people who present with HSB. The training will provide professionals with a theoretical background about the development of sexual behaviour problems\, and guidance on what works. DESCRIPTION:This module looks at the CQC Inspection process and how to deal with them.  We will focus on how to create a culture of buy-in within the GP Practice through a better understanding of the CQC assessment framework.  The module will be delivered as an interactive session with practical guidance to enable participants to map the techniques onto their own practice – and has been fully updated to incorporate the CQC Inspection changes applicable from the onset of Covid-19. The aim is to provide a practical usable framework for CQC compliance. \nObjectives: participants will improve their understanding of the CQC Assessment process.  The module will provide a detailed insight into the key lines of enquiry and how to prepare. Trainer Manar Matusiak has over 20 years’ experience at director level in the specialist care and education sector\, in particular in the field of autism. She helped to set up and develop the first transitional residential service in the country for young adults with autism and complex needs. Her background is in teaching and management. During her career\, she was Personal and Professional Development Director for one of the national specialist autism providers\, overseeing the development. She is currently Managing Director of Living Autism and she trains and coaches nationally across all sectors This is an introductory workshop and may not be suitable for those in clinical settings. SUMMARY:RCGP Learning Disability in Primary Care (virtually delivered)
DESCRIPTION:North East London Training Hub are delighted to offer clinicians working in General Practice in the region with the opportunity to access a funded place on the RCGP Accredited Learning Disability in Primary Care Module. The course is a 16 weeks module which includes an essential one day course with a series of offline units to be completed to obtain certification. The module seeks to improve the health outcomes of people with a learning disability \n \nThe learning outcomes for the module are: \n• Understand what a learning disability is\n• Identify what reasonable adjustments are and how they can be applied within the practice setting\n• Understand what diagnostic overshadowing is and how to address it\n• Explain why it is important to have an alert / flagging system that identifies people with a learning disability\n• Be able to put in place solutions to increase the uptake of annual health checks and health action plans within their practices for people with a learning disability \nLearning outcomes for the accompanying taught day: \n• Explain and demonstrate an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act\n• Explain the principles that underpin the Mental Capacity Act\n• Able to assess why a person’s capacity to consent is in question\n• Work out whether or not someone has the capacity to consent or otherwise to what is being offered them regarding their health using the four-point test\n• Appreciate what is meant by ‘best interests’\n• Make adjustments to accommodate the needs of a person who lacks capacity\n• How to get it right by involving everyone who knows the person \nThe teaching styles employed within this training programme are those that strive to enhance practical skills\, attitudes and knowledge. There are taught components and self-learning elements contained within\, which have at their core\, the desire to enhance and improve the practice of the learner in relation to working with\, and for people with a learning disability. These are provided within each unit as suggested reading\, and direction is also provided within the course content. \nThe module covers the following:\n• One full day taught day delivered via Zoom platform. Alongside the trainer\, there will be a person with a learning disability and a parent of a person with a learning disability joining the session to share their experiences and answer questions\n• Four online units which provide theory on the following topics: \n– Learning disability and health inequalities\n– Diagnostic overshadowing\n– Checking a person’s understanding and the Mental Capacity Act\n– Reasonable adjustments\, Equality Act and health checks \n• Four 500-word reflective accounts linked to each of the four online units. These are formally reviewed by the trainer at the end of the 16-weeks \nPlease note that all elements of the module must be completed within the given 16-week time frame in order to receive certification. The course is valued at £280 PP. The NEL Training Hub is initially funding 60 places on the programme. places will be distributed equitably across the seven Boroughs in North East London \nThe course will include:\n• One full day taught via the Zoom platform. Students will need to ensure they have working cameras and microphones as the session is interactive and requires group discussions and student participation. Places are limited to 15 learners per cohort\n• Access to the four online units for the duration of the 16-week module\n• Trainer reviewing the four reflective accounts for each student\n• Certificate of completion in PDF format from Londonwide LMCs with the RCGP kitemark once all elements of the module are successfully completed within the 16-week time frame. \nRequirements:\n• Be a healthcare professional working in primary care\n• Be supported by the organisation or practice to attend the taught day\n• Be committed to the module for a minimum of 16 weeks\n• Learners will need to have access to email
