SUMMARY:Suicide First Aid Lite (4 hours)
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE to register you place \nThe Suicide First Aid Lite (delivered virtually) is a half day course giving learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths and some basic skills can help someone with thoughts of suicide stay safe from their thoughts and stay alive \nSFA Lite is comprised of 2 parts over half day. The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider. \nSuicide First Aid Lite (Virtual) training offers learning outcomes that are knowledge based and factual. This training can be used as a stand-alone programme or as the first part of a journey to learn suicide prevention skills. \nMethod of delivery: \nTaught over half day using tutor facilitated socratic learning\, tutor-led role- play\, mini lectures\, group work and audio-visual presentations. This is a has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience. Use of Camera and microphone is essential for quality and safety reasons\, otherwise you will be asked to leave the session \nPre-training requirement \nNo previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self-reflect and empathise with a person having thoughts of suicide. \nWho should attend? \nMulti-sector practitioners including health\, housing\, social care\, education\, criminal justice\, call centre operators\, private\, voluntary and public sector workers and community members. \nWhat previous attendees have feedback: \n“Great and informative course which helped to identify a range of causes\, reasons\, signs of suicide and how to support someone in a moment of crisis” \n“The trainer was excellent and very clear in her explanations. SUMMARY:Awareness and Understanding of Autism in Adults
DESCRIPTION:The workshop objectives include: \n\nAn introduction to the Spectrum\nCharacteristics of autism\nCommunication\n Rigidity and repetitive behaviours\n Sensory\n Strengths\nWhat works\nLegislative requirements\n\nCourse facilitation The course will be delivered in a combination of theory\, as well as practical and interactive exercises. Attendees will also have the opportunity to consider action points going forward after the course. Trainer Manar Matusiak has over 20 years’ experience at director level in the specialist care and education sector\, in particular in the field of autism. She helped to set up and develop the first transitional residential service in the country for young adults with autism and complex needs. Her background is in teaching and management. During her career\, she was Personal and Professional Development Director for one of the national specialist autism providers\, overseeing the development. She is currently Managing Director of Living Autism and she trains and coaches nationally across all sectors This is an introductory workshop and may not be suitable for those in clinical settings. Workshops are based on small group interactions. Please do ensure you are committed to attending the full duration of the workshop. The workshop is costed at £75 PP and has been funded by North East London Health and Care Partnership

DESCRIPTION:Thursday 12th May (on-line 9.30 – 11.30 am) & Thursday 19th May (9.30 am – 16.30 pm) \n\n\n\n\nThe dates in BOLD indicates the mandatory practical session \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course is open to: \n\nregistered nurses & registered midwives\nregistered nursing associates\nphysician associates registered on the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR)\nGeneral Medical Council (GMC) registered medical doctorsIt is delivered in accordance with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme training guidelines and is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing\nThe theoretical training comprises of on-line modules\, Teams meetings\, & practical teaching delivered over a one-week period. Classroom teaching will take one full day and will be held at the London Regional Cytology Training Centre based at Northwick Park Hospital. \nFollowing on from this clinical practice & portfolio work\, under the supervision of a mentor\, will need to be completed with a final external assessment. NEL Training Hubs will be able to provide an external assessor for you. \nThe whole training registration pathway can take up to six months to complete and all components are compulsory for staff wishing to take cervical samples \nYour employers support is essential to complete this course. \nApplicants are advised to familiarise themselves with the current guidance for sample-taker training updated Feb 2020 – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cervical-screening-cervical-sample- taker-training \nThere are limited FREE places available and the course cost will be covered for you. Attendees will also have the opportunity to consider action points going forward after the course. Trainer Manar Matusiak has over 20 years’ experience at director level in the specialist care and education sector\, in particular in the field of autism. She helped to set up and develop the first transitional residential service in the country for young adults with autism and complex needs. Her background is in teaching and management. During her career\, she was Personal and Professional Development Director for one of the national specialist autism providers\, overseeing the development. She is currently Managing Director of Living Autism and she trains and coaches nationally across all sectors This is an introductory workshop and may not be suitable for those in clinical settings. Workshops are based on small group interactions. Please do ensure you are committed to attending the full duration of the workshop. The workshop is costed at £75 PP and has been funded by North East London Health and Care Partnership

SUMMARY:Foundations in Motivational Interviewing (MI): “Exploring Motivation and Facilitating Change”
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays 5th May\, 12th May\, 0930-1430 & 19th May 2022\, 0930-1430 (each day) \n*required to attend all three days* \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \n  \nMotivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred counselling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. North East London Training Hubs have funded limited places for local Health and Social Care workforce to access these courses. The programme will introduce\, evidence-based skills and strategies to 1) explore people’s ambivalence to change health damaging behaviours and  2) facilitate positive lifestyle change \nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. The course (equivalent to two days) introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings. \n  \nParticipants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. Late comers will not be allowed entry. The course is delivered via Zoom platform\, and learners should ensure device and network enables this prior to registering. DESCRIPTION:Background: \nThe NSPCC Graded Care Profile GCP2 is a standardised tool for assessing the quality of parental care where neglect is a concern. It provides an assessment of the quality of care across the 4 domains of physical; safety\, emotional; developmental needs. DESCRIPTION:Background: \nThe course is aimed at providing front line social workers and managers who work with children and families with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond effectively to the challenges of working with parents with a mental health issue. The course will consider the features of mental ill health\, how this impacts on parenting and the effects on children of living with a parent with a mental health condition. The focus of the course will be meeting children’s identified needs\, managing risk and ensuring good outcomes for children via effective social work case work. \nKSS Practitioner Indicators: 1\,2\,3\, 4\,5\,6\,7\,8\,10 \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the prevalence\, nature and signs of the most common types of mental illness (distinguishing between cases where there is a formal diagnosis or not)\nExamine the impact of Covid pandemic and lockdown on parental mental health and wellbeing .\nExploring presentation of major mental illness including depression \,bipolar disorder .schizophrenia and personality disorders in parents and levels of risks presented in Serious case reviews.\nIdentify some of the triggers to emotional distress; physical illness\, trauma and conflict affecting parents and children.\nRecognise mental disorders among parents from Black and minority communities and the experiences of women with mental ill health\nUnderstand the impact on the child’s cognitive\, emotional and social development when living with adults diagnosed with mental ill health\nDevelop an understanding of the impact of mental health in relation to predictions of risk and harm in particular preventing high harm outcomes\nIdentify different clinical \,social and therapeutic interventions which are effective approaches in response to adult mental illness\n\n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:This is the foundation workshop to the PMA programme – a series focused on the business management of general practice – where practice finances and accounting systems are explained in a user-friendly\, interactive way. The web workshop will give you an overview of your accounting system and walk you through a set of Practice Accounts.  It will also cover superannuation and update you on financial changes to expect for 2022/23. \n  \nThe module will be delivered as an interactive web workshop with practical guidance to enable participants to map the techniques and outcomes onto their own practice. \n  \nObjective:  Participants will gain an understanding of practices finances and how to understand the accounts produced by your accountant.  Good financial management should lead to reduced financial risk in the ever-changing world of general practice.

SUMMARY:Awareness and Understanding of Autism in Children
DESCRIPTION:The workshop objectives include: \n\nAn introduction to the Spectrum\nCharacteristics of autism\nCommunication\n Rigidity and repetitive behaviours\n Sensory\n Strengths\nWhat works\nLegislative requirements\nCourse facilitation\n\nThe course will be delivered in a combination of theory\, as well as practical and interactive exercises. Attendees will also have the opportunity to consider action points going forward after the course. \nTrainer \nManar Matusiak has over 20 years’ experience at director level in the specialist care and education sector\, in particular in the field of autism. She helped to set up and develop the first transitional residential service in the country for young adults with autism and complex needs. Her background is in teaching and management. During her career\, she was Personal and Professional Development Director for one of the national specialist autism providers\, overseeing the development. She is currently Managing Director of Living Autism and she trains and coaches nationally across all sectors \nThis is an introductory workshop and may not be suitable for those in clinical settings. Workshops are based on small group interactions. Please do ensure you are committed to attending the full duration of the workshop. The workshop is costed at £75 PP and has been funded by North East London Health and Care Partnership
