SUMMARY:Giving out Normal Blood Test
DESCRIPTION:Support for frontline staff to confidently give out normal blood results. Based on the BBB training where in the initial 3 months they had saved around 50-60 appointments at St Andrews. They had 100% accuracy giving out results (ie those patients that were told the results were normal did actually have normal results and no one was falsely told this). Feedback from all receptionists was positive as they were getting frustrated that they could see results filed as normal but had to book appts with Drs or nurses and often when Drs called patients\, their calls were missed so patients would call back to speak Dr and this would unnecessarily increase call volumes. So they felt the training not only saved appts but also reduced the call volume and hence workload for them.

SUMMARY:CQC Assessment
DESCRIPTION:This module looks at the CQC Inspection process and how to deal with them.  We will focus on how to create a culture of buy-in within the GP Practice through a better understanding of the CQC assessment framework.  The module will be delivered as an interactive session with practical guidance to enable participants to map the techniques onto their own practice – and has been fully updated to incorporate the CQC Inspection changes applicable from the onset of Covid-19. Case studies will be used to provide tips and insights on good practice and\, also inadequate General Practice. Group work will be facilitated on all aspects of the programme so that participants also develop their understanding of the Assessment process by interacting with colleagues. The aim is to provide a practical usable framework for CQC compliance. \nObjectives: participants will improve their understanding of the CQC Assessment process.  The module will provide a detailed insight into the key lines of enquiry and how to prepare. The workshop will provide guidance of good practices and equally important\, on what inadequate services look like – enabling you to adopt practiced due diligence techniques that will help to mitigate risks and will also help with all aspects of compliance of the Quality Care Commission rules.

SUMMARY:Care Navigation (2 x 2 hours)
DESCRIPTION:The key objective of Active Signposting (AS) is to help patients access the right care at the earliest opportunity. It is a new system of ‘triage’ carried out at the first point of contact with the GP Practice by non-clinical staff under direction of the clinical team. There are numerous drivers for this patient centred approach and outcomes will include a more streamlined GP workload\, improving efficiencies in terms of access to services and patient satisfaction. It will achieve this by releasing valuable GP time and resources. Staff will actively manage requests for GP appointments and safely redirect inappropriate GP consultations to the most appropriate care provider. \nObjective:  Active Signposting is a tool to develop the skills and career paths of non- clinical staff.   Staff will move away from a passive role and have a more direct impact on patient health outcomes. The skills and abilities needed to undertake Active Signposting are valuable in other new non-traditional roles such as Document Management\, HCA and Care Navigation. After this web workshop\, staff will be confident in advising and referring patients to care providers who work either within the practice team or to external care providers. Active Signposting can present a challenging cultural shift for some teams – and we will explore the mechanisms to help make the changes as smooth as possible – some of this will build on the existing understanding\, within the practice\, of the need to change and a realisation of benefits these
