SUMMARY:TNW MEDICINES OPTIMISATION EDUCATION SESSION
DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, \nAs mobilisation for phase 3 of the Covid-19 vaccination booster programme accelerates\, the CCG’s TNW Medicines Optimisation team is providing support through webinars and Q&A sessions. \nIn phase 3 with 9 more Local Vaccination sites being established\, there will need to be more involvement of the PCN and practice pharmacists in both the service delivery\, e.g.  reconstitution of vaccine\, and operational assurance of the sites\, although the CCG pharmacist leads will still have professional responsibility for the overall assurance. We have also been in touch with the PCN Clinical Directors. \nThe TNW Medicines Optimisation team would like to invite all Primary Care Network Pharmacists\, Practice Pharmacists and GP Federation Pharmacists in Tower Hamlets\, Newham and Waltham Forest to attend this 2 part training webinar.\n\nThe sessions will be 60 minutes each\, approx. 40 minutes of slides with a Q&A session.\nEach session will be different as there is a lot of information to cover\,  but they will be recorded and made available afterwards for any staff unable to attend.\nAlthough the CCG’s MO team will always endeavour to answer individual queries\, given the simultaneous mobilisation of a number of new sites and  our very limited capacity\,  we are requesting that PCNs all make use of sessions outlined above and try to keep individual questions outside of the sessions to a minimum if at all possible.\n\nYour participation is strongly encouraged in order to support the Phase 3 covid vaccination programme. This is particularly for PCN Lead pharmacists but even if you are not currently involved\, this training will still be beneficial in supporting the covid-19 vaccination programme. \nOBJECTIVES\nAt the end of the sessions attendees should be able to:\n\nUtilise the main sources of information relating to the vaccine programme\nUnderstand how assurance of the vaccine programme operates and how this differs from other services commissioned from GP practices\nUnderstand the main aspects of cold chain management of the vaccines and the requirements of all sites. The session will include examples of cold chain excursions\nUnderstand the differences between the legal frameworks that vaccine sites can use  to enable them to administer the vaccine\nUnderstand the MHRA licensing arrangements and the responsibilities  these give to pharmacists and other registered healthcare professionals. A key issue covered here  will be the movement of vaccine.\nUnderstand the main operational implications of the  3 different types of vaccine  currently available in the UK\nOutline the key aspects of phase 3 that are still unclear and how this affects the mobilisation of the sites\nOutline the main risks relating to operating vaccine sites and how these might be mitigated\nUnderstand their roles and responsibilities  in implementing the programme\n\n We look forward to seeing you all at the sessions.\n\nKind Regards\,\nTNW Medicines Optimisation Team\n\n \n

SUMMARY:LARC study day for Primary Care
DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION\nPrimary care Clinicians in Newham\, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest are invited to this LARC study day being delivered by Train All East Primary Care Support Team. \nLong Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) methods\, including the subdermal implant (SDI)\, are highly reliable – research has shown LARC to be 20 times more effective than contraceptive pills\, the patch\, or the vaginal ring. \nFor the average health professional in primary care\, contraception advice and/or provision forms an integral part of day-to-day practice. Indeed\, figures show that primary care is the main source of contraception provision for the majority of UK women of all ages. The uptake of LARC is low in East London\, yet increased uptake could help to reduce unintended pregnancy. \nThis study day will provide guidance and training so that you can help women make an informed choice about LARC in general and SDI in particular. \nTARGET AUDIENCE\nThis course is suitable for nurses\, doctors and physician associates working in general practice in Newham\, Tower Hamlets & Waltham Forest who are not already LARC fitters and who would like to find out more about SDI or who are interested in becoming SDI fitters.\n\nAGENDA\n\nWhy LARC?\nThe Pros and Cons\, ins and outs of implants\nThe Practical Stuff – Fitting and removing implants\nTips and Tricks – Managing side effects\nPutting It Into Practice\, your turn! – Discussing clinical scenarios\nTraining pathways and how to access training\nQ&A\, Evaluation\n\n
