SUMMARY:Launch of Evaluation Report on Health & Wellbeing Coaches in North East London
DESCRIPTION:The North East London (NEL) Personalised Care Programme Team is delighted to invite you to the official launch of our publication: Making a Difference – an evaluation of Health & Wellbeing Coaches (HWBCs) in North East London on Wednesday 21st September 2022 at 1.30pm – 3.30pm. \nNHS North East London and The Shoreditch Trust jointly commissioned Professor Richard Griffin at King’s College London to undertake this work\, exploring the experience and impact of Health and Wellbeing Coaches in North East London. \nIt is well documented that populations and people have improved experiences and better health outcomes when empowered to actively participate and self-manage their health and wellbeing. \nHWBCs are integral to this\, bringing vital specialist coaching skills\, experience and behaviour change methods as well as a holistic way of working into primary care settings so people can be active participants in their physical and mental health and wellbeing. \nThe findings highlight exemplar work and tangible impact of health coaching in NEL\, as well as a call to action to ensure we have a well-trained\, supported and thriving health and wellbeing coach workforce. The recommendations from the Kings College London evaluation will also contribute to our plans for personalised care. \nIn NEL we want to see expansion of the health coaching workforce\, and this is also reflected in the recent announcement from NHS England on winter planning which calls for rapid recruitment of personalised care workforce ‘amongst measures to alleviate GP pressures’. \nhttps://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/breaking-news/gps-to-be-supported-by-1000-additional-link-workers-under-nhs-england-winter-plan/ \nWhat will we look at during this session? \n\nWelcome and opening remarks from Dr Jagan John\, NEL ICB Primary Care Board Representative and Personalised Care Clinical Lead NHSE London\nPresentation of findings and recommendations from Professor Richard Griffin\, King’s College London\nInsights and impact from the frontline – from Coaches\, Clinical Directors and GPs\nDiscussion and what next in North East London?\n\nWho should attend?  \nHealth & Wellbeing Coaches\, PCN Managers\, Practice Managers\, GPs\, Clinical Leads \nPlease do share this invitation with all member practices\, PCN and practice managers  \nHow to attend? \nDate: Wednesday 21st September 2022 \nTime: 1.30pm – 3.30pm \nWhere: MS Teams online \nLink to Join: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_NTNiMzE5OWUtNmM3OS00ZmI0LWE3MzYtN2NkNTcwMTgyYzc5%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2237c354b2-85b0-47f5-b222-07b48d774ee3%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22beddf851-1025-41c2-b868-58e78fc45b6f%22%7d \n  \nIf you would like to showcase your PCNs’ great work around impact of Health & Wellbeing Coaching or be contacted for a case study\, please do email nelondonicb.personalisedcare@nhs.net \nWe very much look forward to seeing you all in September. \n

In doing so\, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse. \nThe courses won’t teach you to be a therapist\, but we will teach you to listen\, reassure and respond\, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening. \nBut more than that\, we aim to give you the information and skills to look after your own mental health so that you can set an example for young people. By giving you the tools to have these conversations\, we hope to empower you to create a mentally healthy\, supportive environment in your family\, school\, peer group or community. \nLet’s create a future where mental health is treated as a normal part of life\, in the same way as physical health. A future where every young person has access to support if they need it. \nThis full course qualifies you as a Youth Mental Health First Aider\, giving you: \n\nAn in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing\nPractical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues\nConfidence to reassure and support a young person in distress\nEnhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening\nKnowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites\, their place of learning\, the NHS\, or a mix – engaging with parents\, carers and external agencies where appropriate\nAbility to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive\nTools to look after your own mental wellbeing\n\nHow is the course delivered?
