SUMMARY:Cervical Cancer Prevention Training Jo's Trust
DESCRIPTION:We aim to train anyone who wants to help Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust share cervical health messages.\nWe train health care staff (non-clinical staff or healthcare professionals) and people in the community who feel strongly about improving health outcomes for women in their area.\nEvery day in the UK\, 9 women are diagnosed with and 2 women die from cervical cancer. Yet\, cervical cancer is now largely preventable through cervical screening and the HPV vaccine.\nThe number of women attending cervical screening is declining so we need your help to change these statistics and help us reach our goal of eliminating cervical cancer in the UK. \nWhat can we offer you?\n• A free training session\, around 1.5 hours in duration\, tailored to your needs and the populations you work with.\n• A certificate of completion (following our first month evaluation).\n• A session that will raise awareness of cervical cancer and prevention\, and will equip you with the skills\, knowledge and tools you need to communicate key messages. We will also give you space to reflect on how best to engage with your patients to change behaviour and overcome barriers to awareness and screening. SUMMARY:Promoting Quality and Handling Complaints
DESCRIPTION:Audience: Practice Management staff \nThis workshop delegates will understand the NHS complaints procedure and be able to identify the key responsibilities and actions required at each stage. Delegates will also be able to handle complaints in primary care effectively using this procedure. This workshop will also focus on the need for a quality approach and quality standard. Delegates will be able to identify the needs of patients and service users and design and implement quality standards to meet these. This programme will conclude with delegates completing a quality action plan to implement their standards and plans for their evaluation. \nCourse Provider: Thornfields \n\n\n\nRules of engagement  \n(MUST READ)  \n\nAll courses are delivered virtually via Teams or Zoom \n\n\nDates are offered from September onwards. Additional dates will be added based on demand and need. Your Training Hub will be providing regular updates on new topics and dates. Where places are fully subscribed\, do add your name to the waiting list to be offered priority place on future dates. \n\n\nRegistering on the courses are mandatory. This is typically through Eventbrite platform \n\n\nIn the event of needing to cancel place(s)\, this must be done via the Eventbrite platform \n\n\nSignificant public funds are being invested on these programmes to support staff development. Booking on a workshop and not turning up will incur a DNA charge. This will be the cost price of the place on the workshop. These are not free but funded Attendance/Non-attendance report will be produced and shared with your local Training Hub team \n\n\nTo ensure a high quality learning experience\, all the workshops will be interactive. To enable this you MUST have a working camera and mics to participate. You may be asked by the facilitator on the day to leave if you do not have a working camera and/or mic \n\n\nLearners are expected to join in a timely manner\, and participate in the training fully. Late entries will not be given entry. Partial participation will result in certificate not being issued and line management will be informed \n\n\nJoining links will be circulated 48-72 hours prior to delivery date. Once delegate book on a course\, they are expected to ensure diary is blocked to participate in the session \n\n\nWe expect learners to ensure protected time\, space and equipment is accessible prior to registering. This should be a place and time with minimal distraction. Practice Management should be supporting staff to facilitate this \n\n\nWe expect all learners to participate in the evaluation process of the programme. This would include on the day feedback\, and impact survey that will be carried out 12 – 16 weeks post training. For those aged 5-19 suicide is the second most common cause of death\, and a record number of children contacted Childline with suicidal thoughts \nIn an average group of 30 15-year-olds: \n\nSeven are likely to have been bullied\nSix may be self-harming\nOne could have experienced the death of a parent\n\nNorth East London offer \nFunding from North East London Health and Care Partnership is enabling us to have training accessible to all schools\, collegesand other CYP settings in North East London. Youth MHFA training course that will enable access to at least one Mental Health First Aider to support Children and Young People. \nWhat does the the course offer? \nYouth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses are for everyone who works with\, lives with or supports young people aged 8-18. They will teach you the skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person\, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need. In doing so\, you can speed up a young person’s recovery and stop a mental health issue from getting worse. \nThe courses won’t teach you to be a therapist\, but we will teach you to listen\, reassure and respond\, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening. \nBut more than that\, we aim to give you the information and skills to look after your own mental health so that you can set an example for young people. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to launch this new three hour course providing an introduction to eating disorders and disordered eating in adults\, aiming to increase awareness and understanding. Delivered by a trainer with lived experience of eating disorders\, it provides insight into the challenges associated with recovery and guidance on how to make sense of disordered eating and it’s function for the individual. The session is aimed broadly at anyone with an interest in learning more about these issues. \nThe following topics are included in the session: \n\nGrounding eating disorders in fact: addressing myths and misconceptions\nThe spectrum of eating behavior and eating disorder diagnoses.\nUnderstanding the function of an eating disorder\nWeight stigma and its impact\nEarly intervention and barriers to accessing support\nPerson-centered care and support: what you can do to help\n\n**Course is open to all health and social care\, and wider public sector workforce in North East London. As a visiting scholar at London Southbank University\, she lectures on the lived experience of eating disorders and psychologically informed environments. She sits on the board of directors for the Design in Mental Health Network and has spoken at a number of national conferences about her lived experience of mental health care and recovery. She is passionate about the power and importance of centering lived experience in mental health education.

DESCRIPTION:Understanding Learning Disabilities and Autism Training for GP Practices in Newham \nAbout this event \nWhat is a learning disability vs a learning difficulty? What is autism/high functioning autism? How does mental health present in those with LD and/or autism? Why do people with learning disabilities and/or autism have worse physical and mental health than the general population? What can be done to improve these outcomes? \nJoin us as we answer these questions and more during our 3 hour online course suitable for GPs\, Nurses\, HCAs\, Administration Staff and Practice Managers who work in Newham GP surgeries. \nSign up to one of our training sessions which are running between July – December 2022. Please note that places are limited and are offered on a first come first serve basis. This training has been funded by NEL CCG (Newham) and the London Borough of Newham. \nDelivered by Hopeful Futures CIC\, a Newham based community interest company supporting those with learning disabilities & autism\, we have two trainers delivering these sessions: Alice who is a registered learning disability nurse with experience supporting those with complex needs and behaviours which can be challenging to understand and support\, and Alison who is an expert by experience and who also has a vast background in community projects supporting those with LD\, autism & their families.

SUMMARY:Meeting the CQC Standards
DESCRIPTION:Audience: Practice Management staff \nThis interactive workshop has been designed specifically for staff working in general practice to help them understand the implications of practice registration with the Care Quality Commission. Delegates will learn about the Fundamental Standards that the practice has to comply with and how they can help to achieve compliance through their everyday work and interactions with patients. \nCourse Provider: Thornfields \n\n\n\nRules of engagement  \n(MUST READ)  \n\nAll courses are delivered virtually via Teams or Zoom \n\n\nDates are offered from September onwards. Additional dates will be added based on demand and need. Your Training Hub will be providing regular updates on new topics and dates. Where places are fully subscribed\, do add your name to the waiting list to be offered priority place on future dates. \n\n\nRegistering on the courses are mandatory. This is typically through Eventbrite platform \n\n\nIn the event of needing to cancel place(s)\, this must be done via the Eventbrite platform \n\n\nSignificant public funds are being invested on these programmes to support staff development. Booking on a workshop and not turning up will incur a DNA charge. This will be the cost price of the place on the workshop. These are not free but funded Attendance/Non-attendance report will be produced and shared with your local Training Hub team \n\n\nTo ensure a high quality learning experience\, all the workshops will be interactive. To enable this you MUST have a working camera and mics to participate. You may be asked by the facilitator on the day to leave if you do not have a working camera and/or mic \n\n\nLearners are expected to join in a timely manner\, and participate in the training fully. Late entries will not be given entry. Partial participation will result in certificate not being issued and line management will be informed \n\n\nJoining links will be circulated 48-72 hours prior to delivery date. Studies have shown that this collaborative approach increases the likelihood of positive behavioural and lifestyle changes\, producing more effective patient self-management\, particularly in long-term conditions. \nWho is it for?  \nThe course is open to health professionals working in North East London\, including: l GPs l Pharmacists l First Contact Practitioners l Nurses l Social Prescribing Link Workers l Health and Wellbeing Coaches l Care Coordinators l Advanced Nurse Practitioners l Dieticians l Paramedics l HCAs l Physician Associates l Podiatrists l Occupational Therapists l Physiotherapists l Mental Health Practitioners l Nursing Associates l District Nurses l Network Facilitators. \nThis course has been run for well over 2\,000 health and social care professionals over the last seven years.
