The North East London ICS has developed a Green Plan\, in which we committed to providing education and awareness to all primary care staff. \nJoin our Clinical Leads for Net Zero from Primary Care to learn about how the climate crisis is a health crisis and understand about how primary care transformation can help us reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint. \nThe first session takes place on 15 September and they are open to all clinical and non-clinical Primary Care colleagues working in North East London. They have worked\, for example\, in a variety of local authority settings\, educational settings including schools\, colleges\, universities\, large international commercial organisations\, arts settings\, small charities\, foster care / children’s home settings\, CAMHS and secure mental health settings\, residential clinics\, as well as across the wider statutory\, not-for-profit and commercial sectors. All trainers are professional trainers/facilitators who are also trans identified\, and who have extensive grassroots trans community knowledge \n \n

DESCRIPTION:“Exploring Motivation and Facilitating Change”\n\n\n\n\nMotivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred counselling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. Course is currently only delivered online.\n\n\n\n\nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. \nPlease note\, MI does not have an evidence base for working with people with  significant learning difficulties. \nThe two day (or equivalent to) course introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. \nThis course will be delivered by a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings. Attendees must fully attend both days of the course. We also invite all attendees to practice forums post 6 months of attending the course. \n\n\n\n\nLearning outcomes\n\n\n\n\nThe aim of the 2 day (or equivalent to) programme aims to equip delegates to: \n\nUnderstand Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills and processes involved  in how people change behaviour\nPractice core communication skills\nUnderstand  and  practice   responding to change  talk and  sustain  talk\nExchanging  information\nDeveloping a change plan\nIntegrating  skills into  current  practice\n\n\n\n\n\nWho is the course for?\n\n\n\n\nThe course is aimed at any professional working with adults\, young people\, children or families\, where behavioural or attitudinal change is needed or desired. The course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course\, participants will feel able to start using MI in their work settings. \nThis course is also suitable as a refresher/update for people who trained in MI some time ago. We do not recommend anybody who has has attended MI training in the last 3 years to attend this. \n\n\n\n\nHow this the course delivered?\n\n\n\n\nThese courses will be delivered using Zoom. This is very easy and safe to use regardless of your level of IT skill. \nYou will need a device with a microphone and camera together with a suitably fast internet connection. Although mobile devices and tablets can be used\, we recommend the use of laptop or desktop PC for the best experience. Some devices provided by employers may have restrictions in place. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings. \nThe course is valued at £200pp\, and this is funded by the Training Hub. It is also CPD accredited and certificates will only be issued following completion of the training. Participants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. Late comers will not be allowed entry. DESCRIPTION:Audience: Administration and Reception staff \nVirtual workshop for those who have the undertaken the Introduction to Medical Terminology who have a good understanding of the component parts of medical terminology. Use of a standard set of terms and phrase is critical for clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals in order to enable universally consistent communications within the practice and across the Primary Care Network and the wider health services. The use of standardised medical terminology also helps improve the quality of patient care by ensuring that the same words will always mean the same things to all medical employees. \nAll participants will be able to apply the learning to every-day situations back in the practice. The workshop builds on the skills of the administration\, clerical and clinical support staff and will enhance their understanding of medical terminology. Previous attendees to this training demonstrated a real desire to make a real difference to the suicide statistics and better help and support those who have been bereaved through suicide.\nAims of the training will be;\n• For delegates to feel confident supporting those who have been bereaved through Suicide\n• To be able to use appropriate language.\n• Understand what may and may not be helpful.\n• Be familiar and confident using The Help Is at Hand book.\n• Be able to signpost to other organisations who offer specialist support if required.\nYou will be required to provide a postal address for learning materials to be sent to you\nNote\, although the workshop is funded\, there will be DNA charge enforced if you fail to turn up following booking.
