SUMMARY:Delivering Compassionate Support to people seeking sanctuary (virtual delivery)
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 18th October – 10.00-12.00\nMonday 6th November – 14.00-16.00\nTuesday 28th November – 10.00-12.00\nWednesday 13th December – 14.00-16.00 \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nAfter a successful pilot delivery\, The NEL Training Hub is delighted to share new dates for the re-titled and popular two-hour introductory course on Delivering Compassionate Support to people seeking sanctuary. This programme was previously known as the Asylum Welcome Design Lab. \nWe are keen to invite local health and care teams (and wider public sector teams who play a role in supporting) to enhance their awareness and understanding of the challenges encountered by people seeking sanctuary. With new dispersal accommodations opening all around London\, this training will equip staff with the necessary tools and knowledge to support the integration of asylum seekers into the community. The training will be delivered in collaboration with REAP (Refugees in Effective and Active Partnership)\, and the pilot session received plenty of positive feedback. We hope that as many of you as possible can join one of the available dates. \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be sent 48 hours prior to delivery date**

Lots of evocative discussions\, practical strategies. I feel hopeful that I can navigate through the complexities and challenges that will come along when helping somebody make decisions about how they can improve / change something they feel is really important for them.”\n“Excellent delivery and facilitation by Sophie. I would definitely recommend the course to others. She really broke down the course into individual principles and showed how parts (if not all) could be used in daily practice.”\n“The facilitator teaching style was great and i have gained alot of knowledges through the material she provided us with The facilitator was very interactive and engaging which help me not to fall asleep during sessions. The regular break was good as well. Recapping on the previous topic area cover was extremely helpful for me because it help me not to forget what we have been thought and to link it to the next session”

SUMMARY:Acne and COPD exacerbation: Reviewing patients on long term/repeated antibiotics
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nWhen: Wednesday 22 November 2023 | 18:30 – 19:30 | Online \nLearning Objectives \nAfter this webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nUnderstand why it is important to review patients on long term and repeat antibiotic treatment for Acne Vulgaris and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)\nImplement the review of long- term antibiotics for acne\nReview patients with repeated courses of antibiotics for COPD to better implement prevention measures to minimise exacerbations\nKnow how to access and use resources to support review of patients on long-term and repeat courses of antibiotics\n\nWho is it for? \nClinicians in the primary care setting including\, but not limited to: \n\nGPs\nGeneral practice/PCN pharmacists and pharmacy technicians\nPractice nurses\nAdvanced clinical practitioners\nCommunity pharmacists\nICB medicines optimisation teams\n\nBackground information: \nAntibiotic use is rising and national outcome framework targets are not being met by many PCNs and ICBs1. Antibiotic resistance can be caused by antibiotic overuse\, and antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) efforts are crucial to enhance appropriate antibiotic prescribing\, including the review of patients requiring long term or repeated antibiotics to ensure they are being managed appropriately. \nThis webinar will look at ways your practice can review antimicrobial prescriptions and identify patients who are on long-term or repeat antibiotics for acne or COPD exacerbations. The speakers will discuss how primary care clinicians can review these patients and consider management options using evidence-based\, system-wide interventions. Presenters from clinical teams that have used the resources in practice will provide feed back on their experiences\, showcasing resources including those available through the TARGET Antibiotics Toolkit and the acne dashboard2. \n\nAccording to data from PrescQipp dashboard [Available from:https://www.prescqipp.info/]\nIn development\, will be available on PrescQipp

SUMMARY:Acute respiratory tract infections in children in primary care: an evidence update
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nCelebrate World AMR Awareness Week 2023 by joining an interactive live webinar with leading academic primary care clinicians sharing their research evidence to improve the management of acute respiratory tract infections in children in primary care. \nThe webinar will cover risk assessment\, managing diagnostic uncertainty\, holding conversations with parents and carers\, promoting self-care and safety netting\, and targeting antimicrobial use. \nThis session is likely to be of interest to primary care healthcare professionals including paramedics\, clinical pharmacists\, GPs and nurses; health protection teams; and those working with children and young people including community nursing teams and academics. \nIf you would like to attend\, please block out the space in your diary and note that the dial in details to join by MS Teams will be sent out on Monday 20th November. \nCelebrate World AMR Awareness Week 2023 by joining an interactive live webinar with leading academic primary care clinicians sharing their research evidence to improve the management of acute respiratory tract infections in children in primary care. \nOur panel: \nProfessor Alastair Hay is a GP (since 1997) and Professor of Primary Care at the University of Bristol (since 2013). He has two broad research interests relating to primary care: \n\nThe diagnosis\, prognosis and treatment of common infections presenting to primary care\, including those in children.\nThe appropriate use of antibiotics in primary care and the relationship between primary care antibiotics and the development of antimicrobial resistance in the community.\n\n Dr Oliver Van Hecke is an academic GP who completed his doctoral studies in 2018 at Oxford.  His research interests are in optimising treatment options for common infections in the community. This stems from his early clinical training and ongoing collaborations with colleagues in Southern Africa. Optimising treatment for infections requires a multimodal approach: \n\ndeveloping clinical decision-support tools for clinicians;\npromoting cross-discipline teams to optimise treatment;\ntesting and evaluating rapid diagnostic tests in clinical trials;\nensuring public-facing communication strategies about infections and self-care are impactful.\n\nDr Stefania Vergnano is a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Dr Vergnano will be joining our session as part of the panel discussions. \nChair:   The session will be chaired by Elizabeth Beech MBE.  Elizabeth is the Regional Antimicrobial Stewardship Lead for the South West Region at NHS England. \nColleagues from NHS England will be monitoring the chat box and helping to answer your queries on the day. \nQuestions about this event?\nName: Please contact Fiona \nEmail:england.amrprescribingworkstream@nhs.net
