Well just try our FREE training workshop and see for yourself.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur FREE Deaf Awareness training is a great opportunity for you and your staff to break down the barriers that most deaf people face by developing Deaf Awareness and accessibility.\nWHY DO YOU NEED TO BE DEAF AWARE?\nDid you know that in the UK\, 1 in 6 people have some degree of hearing loss? that’s about 10 million people!\nBeing deaf aware is a great way to promote inclusion and improve access for all deaf people and those with a hearing loss.\nOur workshop will introduce the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlight strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges facing Deaf people.\nHOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME?\nEDS aims to ensure all participants gain the best experience possible to support them in understanding Deaf Awareness.\nParticipants will come away with easy to remember communication tips and some basic knowledge of some British Sign Language all of which can be instantly put to use in their workplace improving support to those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.\nThis will ensure more effective communication with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss\, in activities and everyday situations.\nWHO ARE EMPOWERING DEAF SOCIETY?\nWe are a deaf-led Charity based in East London\, dedicated to improving the quality of life for deaf people. Our aim is to ensure that the standards of Access improve for deaf people. Access to information\, justice and knowledge is key for any society to succeed.\nWe work with local community services and businesses to raise awareness about the Deaf community\, focusing on social integration and improving communication and understanding between the two cultures of the deaf and hearing communities\nWHAT IS INCLUDED IN OUR TRAINING WORKSHOP\nOur Deaf Awareness training consists of two one hour Zoom sessions.\nThe first part consists of a one-hour presentation\, introducing the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlighting strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges deaf people face everyday in order to improve your communication skills with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss.\nThis will then be followed by another one hour zoom session giving you an Introduction to British Sign Language Skills to use when communicating with the Deaf Community.\nThese sessions can be booked to run concurrently or split over different times and days.\nParticipants must have attended the first part of this workshop to be able to book on to the second hour – an Introduction to BSL.\n\nWANT TO BOOK AN EDS DEAF AWARENESS TRAINING WORKSHOP?\nClick HERE to book a space on our upcoming workshops\nIf you have any queries and/or would like to book a Deaf Awareness training workshop with us please do not hesitate to contact us.

DESCRIPTION:Registration Link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/overview-of-huntingtons-disease-for-care-staff-tickets-1366843077439?aff=erelpanelorg \nStudy session for professionals supporting someone with Huntington’s disease.\nThis study session is aimed at professionals supporting someone with Huntington’s disease either at home or in a care setting and will give a general overview of Huntington’s disease. \nWe will cover topics such as: \nWhat is Huntington’s disease? \nWhat are the symptoms? \nWhat might help when supporting someone who has Huntington’s disease? \nThere will be opportunities for questions. DESCRIPTION:NEL Training Hub are pleased to introduce newly launched programmes to support staff wellbeing. The programmes are accessible for all staff and practices across NEL. The programme is set up to equip staff on various tools and techniques to support self care and wellness. Please share this across your teams. \nOFFER 1: Monthly Lunchtime wellbeing webinars\nNEL Training Hub are pleased to offer monthly staff wellbeing webinars. All primary care staff are invited to these lunch time sessions aiming to equip staff on various tools and techniques to support self care and wellness. \nQi Gong\nGentle mindful movement for physical and mental relaxation. This practice helps to energise the body\, release stress and increase overall feelings of wellbeing.\nThurs 19th Sept\, 1200 – 1300\nThurs 18th Dec\, 1300 – 1400\nBOOK NOW \nGuided Mindfulness\nGuided relaxation to soothe the nervous system. This session has been specifically created for staff to reduce the impact of ‘fight/flight/freeze’ responses that occur in our bodies in times of stress. These ‘stressors’ can be internal (health) and/or external. You will learn techniques to raise your level of body awareness to invite relaxation into your system and build energy reserves.\nWeds 22nd Oct\, 1300 – 1400\nBOOK NOW \nBody Wisdom\nThis session will empower staff with techniques to bring relief\, reduce pain and improve function around physical postures and movement. You will learn to use self-massage and breathwork to bring the body back into balance\nThurs 20th Nov\, 1200 – 1300\nBOOK NOW \nOFFER 2: In-Practice Whole Team Wellbeing Session\nApply for an interactive\, team-based session delivered in your practice. These sessions\, offered in person and virtually\, can foster collective reflection\, connection and shared strategies to boost team morale and cohesion. For in person sessions\, your team can have access to hand massage or ear acupuncture session. Book up to 90mins slot with our Wellbeing Practitioner Farrah Idris at farrah.idris@nhs.net \nPlease note typically 4-6 notice is required for bookings.
