This introductory session\, delivered by Gendered Intelligence covers the following areas to develop understanding and empathy for those interacting with Trans identities: \nSetting the wider context for Trans identities – how sex\, gender\, and sexual orientation interact\nExploring key terms and the use of language\nProviding a basic grounding in the legislation surrounding the rights and responsibilities related to Trans identities\nInitiating discussions on how organisations can ensure they are trans-inclusive\nOffering links to a wide range of resources \nAbout Gendered Intelligence\nGendered Intelligence is a trans-led charity that works directly with approximately 500 young trans and gender-questioning individuals from diverse backgrounds each year\, primarily through their youth groups and 1:1 mentoring services. They have provided training to over 30\,000 professionals across various settings\, including local authorities\, educational institutions (such as schools\, colleges\, and universities)\, large international commercial organizations\, arts organizations\, small charities\, foster care and children’s home settings\, CAMHS\, secure mental health settings\, residential clinics\, and within the wider statutory\, not-for-profit\, and commercial sectors. SUMMARY:Foundations in Motivational Interviewing (MI): “Exploring Motivation and Facilitating Change”(delivered across multiple dates/formats) – funded for NEL staff
DESCRIPTION:Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centred counselling style for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about change. North East London Training Hubs have funded limited places for local Health and Social Care workforce to access these courses. The programme will introduce\, evidence-based skills and strategies to 1) explore people’s ambivalence to change health damaging behaviours and  2) facilitate positive lifestyle change \nThe course will provide opportunities to observe and practice the approach in a protected environment. By the end of the course participants will feel able to start using Motivational Interviewing (MI) in their work settings. The course (equivalent to two days) introduces participants to the theory\, spirit and principles in using MI to help people make positive change. The training will use a range of methods including didactic teaching\, live demonstrations through role play with professional actors\, audio\, video and coaching. The training will aim to create a curiosity to learn more and develop practice. This course delivery team will include a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) who has worked and trained across a wide range of settings.  \nThe course is valued at £200pp\, and this is funded by the Training Hub. It is also CPD accredited and certificates will only be issued following completion of the training. Participants must fully attend all parts of the course and ensure you have a working microphone and camera. Late comers will not be allowed entry. The below cohorts are being delivered via Zoom platform\, and learners should ensure device and network enables this prior to registering.
