We have experienced the pitfalls\, success and developed a CYP SP Service Blueprint from inception\, ideas through to full-service development. SUMMARY:UEL Workshops - “Should the NHS be privatised?”  
DESCRIPTION:I am Professor Joanne Harris\, and I am delighted to have joined the University of East London this month as the new Dean of Medicine. In addition to my education role\, I also practice as a GP in London. The University is embarking on an exciting initiative to establish a GMC-accredited MBBS undergraduate School of Medicine at the Stratford campus\, with the first cohort of students set to begin in 2027. As we develop this programme\, we aim to leverage the comprehensive resources of the UEL Health Campus to create enriching learning opportunities for local healthcare providers\, including both medical and Allied Health professionals. \nBuilding on the success of the workshop series as part of the Postgraduate Academy of Health education programme\, previously developed and delivered to our Health Fellows\, we are expanding these offerings to a broader audience. As part of this initiative\, we will be hosting a series of lunchtime webinars covering a range of topics relevant to local healthcare providers. \nThe webinars will be conducted online and will run from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Tuesdays\, Wednesdays or Thursdays. SUMMARY:Supporting primary care to deliver earlier diagnosis for suspected bowel cancer patients
DESCRIPTION:Join Bowel Cancer UK’s first ever primary care virtual education event on Thursday 19 June 2025\, delivered online via Zoom\, 6.30 – 7.30pm. The session will be led by Claire Coughlan\, Clinical Lead at Bowel Cancer UK and Nurse Consultant in colorectal cancer at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Claire will be joined by Dr Anisha Patel who will deliver a short session exploring cancer care reviews within primary care.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe session will provide an overview of colorectal cancer\, its risk factors and red flag symptoms. As well as the use of FIT in symptomatic patients within primary care and the bowel cancer screening programme as a route to diagnosis. Well just try our FREE training workshop and see for yourself.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur FREE Deaf Awareness training is a great opportunity for you and your staff to break down the barriers that most deaf people face by developing Deaf Awareness and accessibility.\nWHY DO YOU NEED TO BE DEAF AWARE?\nDid you know that in the UK\, 1 in 6 people have some degree of hearing loss? that’s about 10 million people!\nBeing deaf aware is a great way to promote inclusion and improve access for all deaf people and those with a hearing loss.\nOur workshop will introduce the issues and barriers faced by deaf people and in turn highlight strategies to improve your understanding of the challenges facing Deaf people.\nHOW WILL THIS BENEFIT ME?\nEDS aims to ensure all participants gain the best experience possible to support them in understanding Deaf Awareness.\nParticipants will come away with easy to remember communication tips and some basic knowledge of some British Sign Language all of which can be instantly put to use in their workplace improving support to those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.\nThis will ensure more effective communication with colleagues\, customers and service users who are affected with a hearing loss\, in activities and everyday situations.\nWHO ARE EMPOWERING DEAF SOCIETY?\nWe are a deaf-led Charity based in East London\, dedicated to improving the quality of life for deaf people. Our aim is to ensure that the standards of Access improve for deaf people. DESCRIPTION:Learning to Advise Course for social prescribing link workers and similar roles.\n\nOver recent years your feedback and reporting have shown that a significant proportion of social prescribing clients and those with mental health issues have issues with housing\, welfare benefits claims\, debt\, cost of living\, immigration and similar issues. \nThis free training has been designed to equip social prescribing link workers and similar roles in North East London with detailed knowledge of these issues\, how to ask clients about them\, understand the implications and how to support clients to access the right support and advice in their borough. \nThe course is studied over 12 half and full day on-line and in-person sessions between September 25 and February 26\, with a time commitment of approx. 2 days a month. \nThe Learning to Advise course opens a career pathway to an enhanced social prescribing role with a specialism in social welfare advice\, through the option of studying a follow-on training in 2026\, which consists NVQ level 3 in Advice and Guidance with a training placement. \nFind out more at one of our INFORMATION WEBINARS\nThursday 26th June\, 12:30-1:30 and Wednesday 16th July\, 3:00-4:00 \nPlease note\, no prior knowledge of the topics is needed or assumed to study the Learning to Advise Course.

DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nDr Shani Bhaskaran is a GP with 20 plus years’ experience working Newham primary care . \nShe is a NEL GP appraiser and a central tutor for QMUL university. \nShani is a ILM5 qualified coach and mentor and she provides mentoring for SPIN fellows in Newham and she coaches NHS clinical and non-clinical staff via the Shuri Network. \nShe has considerable experience in facilitation having led and facilitated local and national peer support groups Positive Peer Empowerment group and Doctor Mess respectively. She is a trained action learning set facilitator . \nHaving participated in peer reflective sessions\, Shani recognise the value of creating safe reflective spaces for fellow GPs to share \, collaborate and take action/ move forward for improved wellbeing\, reduced stress and for enhanced performance\, all the more important in this present climate of pressured work environments and life stresses with the potential for distress and burn out. \nShani would be holding reflective sessions remotely at 3 pm via MS teams on the third Wednesday of each month commencing 18th June 2025 for 1 hour . This offer to participate in Newham GP Reflective Sessions is open to GPs working in NEL primary care with the aim to provide reflective spaces facilitated in small groups.

DESCRIPTION:Learning to Advise Course for social prescribing link workers and similar roles.\n\nOver recent years your feedback and reporting have shown that a significant proportion of social prescribing clients and those with mental health issues have issues with housing\, welfare benefits claims\, debt\, cost of living\, immigration and similar issues. \nThis free training has been designed to equip social prescribing link workers and similar roles in North East London with detailed knowledge of these issues\, how to ask clients about them\, understand the implications and how to support clients to access the right support and advice in their borough. \nThe course is studied over 12 half and full day on-line and in-person sessions between September 25 and February 26\, with a time commitment of approx. 2 days a month. \nThe Learning to Advise course opens a career pathway to an enhanced social prescribing role with a specialism in social welfare advice\, through the option of studying a follow-on training in 2026\, which consists NVQ level 3 in Advice and Guidance with a training placement. \nFind out more at one of our INFORMATION WEBINARS\nThursday 26th June\, 12:30-1:30 and Wednesday 16th July\, 3:00-4:00 \nPlease note\, no prior knowledge of the topics is needed or assumed to study the Learning to Advise Course.

DESCRIPTION:For clinicians (doctors\, nurses\, AHPs) who are keen to get involved in supervision of learners\, supporting their training and their educators in practice. \nA fully interactive\, face-to-face one day course introducing important concepts in medical education including workplace supervision skills\, feedback\, assessment etc and enabling practice of these skills in a safe space. \nThis is not a course that leads to approval as an ‘Educator’ for sign off purposes\, but aims to support those who are keen to start getting involved or develop their skills for supporting education in the workplace. Please note this course is for those with a supervisory role for postgraduate learners; apologies it is not suitable for those still in training themselves e.g. GP Registrars.
