SUMMARY:North East London Health Equity Webinar Series: Reducing health inequalities in primary care: Thinking together in challenging times
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThis series is supported by North East London Health Equity Academy. Each of these free webinars will take place online (Teams) on Fridays from 12.30-1.15pm. Focusing on five different topics\, we’ll be joined by guest speakers at each session along with a Q&A. Open to everyone working in primary care across North East London\, participants are welcome to join one or more sessions; we recommend joining as many as possible to gain the maximum benefit. \nDates & times \n\nFriday 27th September 12.30 – 1.15pm A GP’s Story: doing things differently to address health inequalities with Dr Andy Knox Friday\n11th October 12.30 – 1.15pm Data-led optimisation: Addressing equity in diabetes care with Dr Daghni Rajasingam\nFriday 1st November 12.30 – 1.15pm A life’s work: Growing an approach to addressing health inequalities with Professor Mitch Blair\nFriday 22nd November 12.30 – 1.15pm People as Partners with Alyson McGregor and Sheinaz Stansfield\nFriday 13th December 12.30 – 1.15pm How do you know that you are making a difference? with Ailsa Cook Date & Time To be confirmed Putting it all together: How to make change happen\n\nSession 1: Friday 27th Sept A GP’s Story with Dr Andy Knox Everyone is in favour of the idea of reducing inequalities. This is one GPs story of how he put aside feelings of world weariness and powerlessness to do something about it. Drawing on the stories of people he has met in his consulting room over the last 18years\, Dr Andy Knox\, a GP and population health leader explores why things are going so wrong for communities across the UK and what we might do to bring about change. Andy will make the case that unless we reorient ourselves in primary care\, we will continue to perpetuate the staggering inequalities at work in our communities. \nSession 2: Friday 11th Oct Data-led optimisation in diabetes care with Dr Daghni Rajasingam Evidence shows that simply designing services that work for the whole population will address inequalities and raise the quality for everyone. Dr Daghni Rajasingam\, Deputy CMO GSTT and Medical Director for Secondary Care Transformation\, will share learning which is applicable across both primary and secondary care. Daghni partnered with a small analytics company to analyse clinical metrics for all 4\,500 diabetics on their waiting list. Simple stratification led to prioritisation of more global majority patients and people with higher deprivation scores. Seeing people earlier allowed modifiable risk factors to be addressed\, reducing variation in how clinicians saw risk\, redistributing workloads and releasing capacity in the system. \nSession 3: Friday 1st Nov A life’s work: Growing an approach to addressing health inequalities with Professor Mitch Blair Join us for an engaging session with Professor Mitch Blair\, who will share his extensive research and practical experiences at neighbourhood level\, focusing specifically on addressing inequalities in outcomes for children and young people in Harrow. He will bring to life some of the insights from previous sessions\, highlighting his passion for finding an effective intervention and harnessing it to serve the wider community. Discover how effective collaboration both with GPs in shared clinics and within MDTs improves outcomes. When you engage communities\, you can start to transform health outcomes. Mitch will share how he has translated his passion into a comprehensive approach for addressing health inequalities at scale; a story not just of challenges\, but a celebration of success. \nSession 4: Friday 22nd Nov People as Partners with Alyson McGregor and Sheinaz Stansfield With fewer resources coming into primary care to tackle inequalities we need to recognise that one of our greatest assets is working with citizens as partners. Alyson McGregor\, is Director of Altogether Better\, an NHS organisation that has worked more than 25\,000 citizens who have stepped forward to make a difference to their practice and community. Alyson will share evidence-based examples of how teaming up with communities makes a difference and Sheinaz Stansfield\, former managing partner and powerhouse in adopting innovation in primary care\, will describe how tapping into the strengths of the people on her list led to better outcomes for everyone through less conventional methods. Sheinaz’s enthusiasm is infectious and we hope you will catch the bug! Click here to register How to join Click on the button below to book the sessions you’d like to join: Once your booking is received a Teams Webinar link will be issued for each of the events you have registered for. \nSession 5: Friday 13th Dec How do you know that you are making a difference? With Ailsa Cook The NHS is awash with well intentioned initiatives that don’t deliver what they promise. This is largely because not enough attention is placed on impact. Ailsa Cook\, Director of Matter of Focus\, has experience in helping people understand\, track and report on the outcomes that matter to you\, so that you can make the case for your work and have the biggest impact. The impact of the journey is just as important as the outcome when we are working to fix wicked problems. This session will explore what to pay attention to and how to track the impact on the people involved\, developing understanding about why things work and the difference it makes to everyone involved. \nSession 6: Date & time tbc Putting it all together: How to make change happen Further details will be shared at earlier sessions.

SUMMARY:Physiological Measurements (for HCAs and Aspiring HCAs in Primary Care) (2-day course 14 CPD hours)
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThese courses are fully funded\, therefore please ensure you read the cancellation and DNA policy carefully before booking.  \nBooking Information  \nPlease ensure you use Microsoft Edge to complete the Form\, and that you login with your nhs.net email address (or you will get an error message) – the login details for all sessions will be sent to the email address provided.  \nPlease be aware that you will see an automated confirmation message screen to let you know that you have submitted the Form – you are advised to save your response\, as this will have the date you have applied for. This is not confirmation that you have a place on the training\, but at this time\, we would advise you to assume that you have a place on the training you have booked. This is to help you plan your clinical time\, as it is far easier to add in a clinic at a later date than remove one.  \nWe appreciate it is taking a while to get confirmation emails out to everyone at the moment\, and that this is frustrating. This is due to:  \n\n1) The high volume of applications for some of the training\, which comes in at a faster rate than can be effectively managed in real time. \n2) Having to chase incomplete or missing information on the booking Form. \n3) Having to check that applicants are registered with their professional body. \n4) Having to check that the applicants’ job role is covered by our funding agreement with NHSE (we have had a number of inappropriate applications). \n5) Dozens of cancellations or requests to change dates every week. \n\nPreparing for the Training Session  \nPlease check that you have received the joining link for your session at least 48hrs prior to the start date.  \nSometimes the joining link can end up in your junk email folder from external providers\, so please check this 1 week before the training if you have not received the link.  \nIf you ask for the login on the day of the event you may not receive it in time\, and this will count as a DNA.  \nYou may be sent some pre-training work which is essential to the smooth-running of the training session itself. Please ensure that you have completed this in good time.  \nIf you are asked to provide an address for training materials\, please give your home address – they will not be sent to a work address.  \nDuring the Training Session  \nPlease login to your session a minimum of 15mins before the start time. If you cannot login and have not attempted to before the start of the session\, this will count as a DNA.  \nPlease check that you have a working camera and microphone\, and that you are in a place where you can fully interact with the session.  \nMobile phone use is not accepted for attending training – you will be ejected from the training\, and it will count as a DNA. However\, some training will request mobile phone use for interactive elements\, such as quizzes.  \nIf you login late\, you may not be accepted into the training\, and this will count as a DNA.  \nIf you leave a session early you will not receive your certificate – depending on how early you leave\, this may count as a DNA.  \nCancellations  \nIf you need to cancel\, please give a minimum of 5 working days’ notice (e.g. if the training is on Thursday\, you need to let us know by 5pm on Wednesday the week before) so that we have time to fill the space. If you do not\, this will count as a DNA.  \nTo cancel\, you must email nelondonicb.cpd@nhs.net – do not email the trainer directly.  \nOnce you have received confirmation that you have a place on the training session\, please liaise with your Practice Manager to organise your clinical schedule. Failure to do so\, without cancelling with 5 full working days’ notice\, will count as a DNA.  \nDNA Policy  \n1st DNA: You and your Manager will receive an email informing you that you have DNA’d a pre-booked session without cancellation.  \n2nd DNA: You will automatically be removed from any further CPD training for the current financial year. You and your Manager will receive confirmation of this by email.  \nIf you have to cancel your place later than 5 full working days prior to the start of the session\, please email nelondonicb.cpd@nhs.net explaining your exceptional circumstances\, and these will be taken into consideration when deciding whether it counts as a DNA.  \nWe would like to make you aware of this Infection Control Training which is not provided or administered by us:  \nNHSE IPC Refresher Training for GP Practices – April 2024 to March 2025 – North East London (icb.nhs.uk)  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Enhance Webinar 1: Introducing Enhance - How we can build stronger\, healthier communities
DESCRIPTION:We know that collaboration is at the heart of building stronger\, healthier communities. The workforce is central to this: working together\, learning together. \nRegistration Link: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/424a4682-3030-4156-99dd-3b76db7db872@37c354b2-85b0-47f5-b222-07b48d774ee3 \nIn this session you will get an overview of the NEL Enhance programme\, from understanding what the Enhance programme is with its six component domains\, to what it means for you and your work in north east London in making a difference\, and how you can get involved. \nWe’re so pleased to welcome guest speaker\, Dr Jagan John from Barking & Dagenham\, to talk about neighbourhoods in action. Jagan will share his own experience of how taking an innovative neighbourhood approach really began to tackle health inequalities at scale and empower local people. Hear about what worked\, what was challenging\, and what the learning is for you to take forward in your own work and communities. \nPlease note this session will be recorded. \nFor more information\, please visit the NEL Enhance Pilot section of the NEL Health Equity Academy FutureNHS site. \nYour Neighbourhood\, Your Future: Be Part of the Conversation \n  \n\nWelcome to the launch of the pilot North East London Enhance programme!\nNEL Enhance is a workforce development programme\, open to all people working right across health\, local authority\, social care and the VCFSE sector. The programme is supported by NEL ICB Health Inclusion and Improvement and the Health Equity Academy\, and funded by NHSE Education Reform.\nThe key themes covered by the programme are:\n\n\n\n\n\nPerson-centred practice\n\n\nComplex multimorbidity\n\n\nSystem working\n\n\n\n\nPopulation health\n\n\nSocial justice & health equity\n\n\nEnvironmental sustainability\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe NEL Enhance pilot provides an opportunity to think together about how we can foster deeper collaboration and connection. We know that to truly have an impact on health inequalities we need to work together across professional and organisational boundaries. No one part of a system\, or a single profession\, can do this work on its own.\nThe Enhance programme kicks off in January 2025 with six webinars bringing speakers and experts from across our system and beyond. They will start the conversation on the above themes by sharing real life examples and ideas to inspire work in your neighbourhood.\nYou will also hear about the next phase of NEL Enhance\, coming later in the year\, where you can apply to be a part of a tailored\, funded programme\, supporting you in putting the themes into practice to address a local need.\nYour Neighbourhood\, Your Future: Be Part of the Conversation
