SUMMARY:UEL PGA Webinar "Supporting learners in difficulty"
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 23rd April 2026\, 1pm – 1:45pm \nStudents enrolled in health-related programmes experience disproportionately high levels of academic pressure\, emotional distress\, and wellbeing challenges. The combination of intensive curricula\, clinical placements\, professional identity formation\, and exposure to patient suffering places health students at increased risk of burnout\, anxiety\, and disengagement. Universities therefore have a critical role in recognising and responding effectively to students in difficulty\, particularly within health disciplines. \nJoin the upcoming session of UEL Postgraduate Academy of Health to explore common indicators of student distress in health programmes and examine the unique academic\, clinical\, and personal factors that contribute to vulnerability. \nDr Theresa Martin will highlight evidence-informed approaches to early identification\, supportive conversations\, and referral pathways\, emphasising the importance of trauma-informed\, compassionate\, and culturally responsive practices. Dr Martin will also aim to equip professional and university staff with greater confidence and practical tools to support health students in difficulty\, promote student wellbeing\, and contribute to safe\, sustainable learning environments within health education. \nClick HERE to register.
