This introductory session\, delivered by Gendered Intelligence covers the following areas to develop understanding and empathy for those interacting with Trans identities: \nSetting the wider context for Trans identities – how sex\, gender\, and sexual orientation interact\nExploring key terms and the use of language\nProviding a basic grounding in the legislation surrounding the rights and responsibilities related to Trans identities\nInitiating discussions on how organisations can ensure they are trans-inclusive\nOffering links to a wide range of resources \nAbout Gendered Intelligence\nGendered Intelligence is a trans-led charity that works directly with approximately 500 young trans and gender-questioning individuals from diverse backgrounds each year\, primarily through their youth groups and 1:1 mentoring services. They have provided training to over 30\,000 professionals across various settings\, including local authorities\, educational institutions (such as schools\, colleges\, and universities)\, large international commercial organizations\, arts organizations\, small charities\, foster care and children’s home settings\, CAMHS\, secure mental health settings\, residential clinics\, and within the wider statutory\, not-for-profit\, and commercial sectors. SUMMARY:Understanding Disordered Eating in Adults (virtual 3 hour workshop)
DESCRIPTION:Various Dates from September – December 2023 \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThis newly launched three hour course delivered virtually provides an introduction to disordered eating in adults\, aiming to increase awareness and understanding. Delivered by a trainer with lived experience of eating disorders\, it provides insight into the challenges associated with recovery and guidance on how to make sense of disordered eating and it’s function for the individual. The session is aimed broadly at anyone with an interest in learning more about these issues. \nThe following topics are included in the session: \n• Grounding eating disorders in fact: addressing myths and misconceptions\n• The spectrum of eating behaviour and eating disorder diagnoses.\n• Understanding the function of an eating disorder\n• Weight stigma and its impact\n• Early intervention and barriers to accessing support\n• Person-centered care and support: what you can do to help \n**Limited numbers apply early. Joining instructions will be send 48 hours prior to delivery date** \nTrainer bio – Katharine Lazenby\nKatharine Lazenby is mental health expert by experience\, drawing on her lived experience of eating disorders\, psychiatric treatment and hospitalization. She is currently a Project Manager at East London NHS Foundation Trust but has extensive experience as a mental health trainer within the public sector\, educator and public speaker. As a visiting scholar at London Southbank University\, she lectures on the lived experience of eating disorders and psychologically informed environments. She sits on the board of directors for the Design in Mental Health Network and has spoken at a number of national conferences about her lived experience of mental health care and recovery. She is passionate about the power and importance of centering lived experience in mental health education \nWhat previous attendees have fed back: \n“It was so useful to hear Katherine’s lived experience and she gave such valuable insight on how to talk about eating disorders with people who are suffering which I really appreciated.”​\n“I found the information was very surprising and useful. I found the information regarding diversity particularly useful because I never considered the impact of this before.”​
