SUMMARY:End of life care planning with people with learning disabilities
DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to our next webinar which will be held online on Thursday 16 November 2023 @ 12.30 pm \nHow do you involve people with learning disabilities be involved in decisions around the end of life?\nThat is the question that the Victoria & Stuart Project is trying to answer. \nThe project has an inclusive team of researchers and is led by Professor Irene Tuffrey-Wijne at Kingston University London. Their research partners are Open University\, MacIntyre\, Dimensions\, VODG and The Mary Stevens Hospice. The PCPLD Network is a collaborator on the project. \nWe have worked with a large team of people with learning disabilities\, families\, support staff and professionals in health and social care settings (including palliative care). \nWe have looked at end of life care planning resources that are already out there (see this webinar)\nWe have tried them out and thought about what works\, what doesn’t\, and why (see this webinar)\nWe have co-produced a new set of resources that we think will really help people. \nIn this webinar\, we will: \nShow you the new resources for ILLNESS PLANNING (end of life care) and FUNERAL PLANNING\nExplain why we made them this way\, and why we think this will work well\nExplain how you can use them\nTell you how YOU can get involved in trialling the pictures\nThe webinar will be of interest to anyone working with people with learning disabilities\, anyone working with people at the end of life\, families and carers\, policy makers and commissioners. People with learning disabilities are also welcome to watch the webinar. Most of the webinar is accessible\, although there may be some difficult words and concepts. We recommend that you don’t watch it on your own\, but with other people; and that you take some time to talk about it together afterwards. \nThank you. \nPCPLD Network Events and Digital Services Team \nRESERVE YOUR SPOT
