DESCRIPTION:The programme consists of a series of 3 x 1 hour modules with time included for Q&As. \nThere will be suggested pre-reading which will support the interaction and learning on the day. DESCRIPTION:9 March 9am-1pm *Part 1\n19 April 1pm-5pm *Part 2\n\nAbout this event \nThe approach taken will focus on how to embed changes which encompass: \n1. Tools and systems that support people to work in partnership and to have the right information and support at the right time for the best decision. \n2. Clinician skills and values: using core and more advanced communication skills to enable people to articulate what matters to them and work out the impact of these in health options\, decisions and plans. \nThe training is delivered in 2 parts\, please choose a date for part 1 and a date for part 2. \nDuring this training we will: \n• Consider the philosophy\, benefits and components of SDM \n• Work out what the key SDM ‘moments’ are in your service \n• Make plans to put in place practical changes to how things are done to embed SDM into your pathways and patient journeys \n• See\, practice and reflect upon the consultation skills involved in SDM \n  \n\n\n\nPart 1 – What do we mean by Shared Decision Making? \n \nPart 2 – The Shared Decision Making Consultation \n \n\n\n\n\nTo introduce the whole team to the rationale for SDM and clarify current ideas and understanding.\nTo explore the overall principles that underpin SDM and think about the process of making a decision and how we support meaningful involvement in decision making.\nTo think about how we discuss risk in a meaningful way\nTo consider current patient pathways and which decision making areas you wish to focus on as an individual or team.\n\n\n\n\nTo reflect upon the philosophy and values that underpin a SDM approach.\nTo consider the consultations skills involved in SDM and have a go at scenarios using the skills outlined.\nTo continue to work with your team on SDM in the patient pathway/journey and an initial improvement that you will work on.\nTo give teams time to do some thinking about pathways\, resources and planning.
