NEL Training Hub, on behalf of the North East London Health and Care Partnership, invites all frontline NHS staff across North East London to take part in a virtual British Sign Language (BSL) course, designed to support inclusive communication with patients, colleagues, and service users who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
This interactive course is ideal for staff in patient-facing roles and will equip you with the confidence to use BSL in everyday healthcare settings. Whether you’re completely new to BSL or looking to build on your existing skills, the course will introduce key vocabulary and provide practical techniques for real-world conversations.
Learning outcomes include:
- Understanding and using a range of simple, health-related words and phrases in BSL
- Participating in everyday conversations using BSL
- Giving and following directions or instructions
- Communicating basic healthcare information in BSL
