Physician Associate Preceptorship in Primary Care – Guidance

Following review and approval via Primary Care Deans and E&T Senior Leadership Team, please see the updated Physician Associate Preceptorship in Primary Care guidance.

The revised guidance includes the expansion of the eligibility criteria for preceptorship funding in addition to referencing the Royal College of General Practitioners guidance on PAs working in primary care. Expansion of the eligibility criteria includes:

  • Existing PAs in Primary Care who have not undertaken a preceptorship: This includes those in their first role who have not yet participated in the preceptorship scheme
  • Employers seeking additional assurance: Practices that wish to provide enhanced supervision and assurance for their PAs, even if they are not newly qualified, could apply for the funding to cover additional supervision costs
